Dennis Keith Howard

Dennis Keith Howard was born on April 3, 1951 in Eureka, CA.He passed over from cancer on September 19, 2012 at the age of 61.From the day he was born Dennis was a true mountain man, he had a great love for the land and living in the hills.He had a passion for hunting, fishing and in his free time liked to garden and pan for gold. Dennis graduated from Arcata High School.He spent many summers as a youngperson surfing on the North Coast. He moved to Alaska and worked on a fishing boat and held various other jobs while living there for many years.He resided in Hayfork, CA andworked for several ranches in the local area.Dennis enjoyed being a rancher, it was his dream.He is well known asbeing "The Best Fence Builder" around.His last job was working for The Watershed Research and Training Center in Hayfork as a machine operator. Dennisis preceded in death by his father Harold H Howard, his grandparents and many family members. He is survived by his loving wife Julie Howard of 26 years, hismother Hetty Merlynn (Stapp) Schroeder and husband Al Schroeder, his step-mother Lavena Howard, his step-children that he loved as his own, Cindy Kelly and husband Frank, Carol Ringer and husband Alex and Cathy Christie, eight step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, his brother Phillip Howard which he shared a special bond with, his sisters Delie Rogers,Ireta Hinman and husband Todd, Sandra Torquemada and husband Dan, step-brother Gary Woodard (who passed 10 days later on 9/29) and wife Shirlene, step-sister Rosanna Carr, and numerous nephews, cousins,an uncle, aunts and many friends.His immediate family has held a small private service in his honor. His wife Julie would like to extend a special Thank You to the local Hayfork Community for all their contributions and support. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the local Humboldt County Relay For Life Chapter.
