Andrew Komarchuk Obituary

ANDREW WILLIAM KOMARCHUK, 79, of Pearland, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday afternoon, September 1, 2008. The son of Russian immigrants, Wasily and Mary Kubic Komarchuk, he was born on February 15, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. He received a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Concordia Teacher's College (River Forest, Illinois), a Master's of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois State College (Charleston, Illinois) and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston (Houston, Texas). "Dr. K." as he was delighted to be called, was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and served in many capacities in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod School System for over 25 years. From humble beginnings as a teacher/principal of a small one-room schoolhouse in Stewardson, Illinois in 1951, he went on to be an elementary school principal in Whitestone, New York and Houston, Texas and was then called to be principal of the Lutheran High School in Houston where he served until 1978. Dr. K then began work with the Aid Association for the Lutherans. He received many and various awards for outstanding work as he served members of area Lutheran Churches. He enjoyed this second profession until retirement, after which he focused on his love of gardening and golf. Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and one granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Komarchuk; 4 daughters: Naomi Matthys and husband Tim of Copperas Cove, Texas, Brenda Goebel of Boyd, Texas, Barbara Hargiss and husband Bill of Fredericktown, Missouri and Darlene Market and husband Bryan of Leavenworth, Kansas; one stepson, Stanley Piotrowski and wife Misook of Bryon Center, Michigan; one stepdaughter, April Venable of Goodyear, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. The visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 4th, 2008 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 10310 Scarsdale Blvd., Houston, Texas 77089. The funeral will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 5th, 2008 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. Andy and I were married for 23 1/2 years until circumstances changed. I loved him very much then, especially because he gave me 4 beautiful daughters who are my bright, shining stars! My prayers are with his widow and all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. May God grant you comfort and peace at this time of sorrow.

Our Sincere Sympathy and Prayers are with you all in your time of grief. Espically" Naomi,Brenda,Barbara,Darlene, and their husband's,and children. Andy was a man whom lived by the book of the Lord. He was my teacher at Stewardson,Il. all eight years in that one room school house. We all had chores daily to do.He and Janet at that time and daughter's where part of our family.May the Lord wrap his loving arms around each of you.Our Love and prayer's are with all of you,Norman&Shirley Beitz PS: We almost forgot,"Andy had a voice that sung beautiful at church.wedding's & Etc. Praise The Lord now he is at home singing with the Lord!!!!
