I was a very young student at SMI, Amsterdam, NY. When Father Gilchrist was attached there. I remember when he enlisted in the Air Force. He came to our classroom in full uniform to say good bye. Handsome man in his uniform. I still remember. He was loved by all the children.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Fr. Frank. He was a dear life-long friend of my parents Mary Lawlor and Bill Beidl. He married them and also presided over their funerals in 1994 and 2004 respectively.
Although I saw him seldom, he was such a warm man that I always felt I knew him bettter than I really did.
He was a great comfort to me and my brothers Bill and Peter.

I met Fr. Gilchrist through a mutual friend, Fr. Joseph Conway. Fr. Conway was a dear friend to me since I was his altar boy at Sacred Heart in Castleton. Fr. Conway always spoke highly of Fr. Gilchrist right up to his passing a number of years ago. I still remember Fr. Gilchrist's eulogy at Fr. Conway's funeral when he referred to him as a "Christ-like" man. That phrase has stuck with me all these years and now these two "Christ-like" men are together again, still doing God's work as they look-out for each and everyone of us. God Bless Fr. Gilchrist

Thank you for touching our lives and for your quiet influence. We'll be leaving an extra chair at the dinner table whenever chicken marsala is on the menu!

I picture you sitting at a simple table quietly enjoying a bowl of soup. Probably soup Mary Rose made for you and the other Fr. Frank you were living with in Albany. You always made time to meet and talk with me. My favorite was meeting you in Washington Park to go for a grand power walk. Thank you for your tender fatherly care, your sound advice, and text book money for college. hey pop, i really miss you. i know you're praying for me. you probably don't need mine so give 'em to whomever you like. i love you pop. forever, cindy

My condolences to the entire Gilchrist family. I met Fr. Frank at The Ale House when I worked there, and he was a pleasure to have as a customer. He had a great sense of humor. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Sister Fran and Family,
Frank was a wonderful priest and an incredible individual. We are going to miss him. He was my great right hand in Bolton Landing and in many other places over the years.
Please be assured that he will be remembered in all my prayers and masses as will the entire family at this difficult time.
God Bless,
Father Peter Young

I just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss. It is a sad time. I loved Fr. Gilchrist and enjoyed sharing our birthdays. I greatly enjoyed having him over for birthday cake when I was growing up. They are memories that I hold dear to my heart. My thoughts and Prayers are with you.

Sr. Frances Anne;
My sympathies to you and your family. My happiness for Fr. Frank as he now enjoys the fruits of his labors. He truly was a GENTLEman and one of the HOLY ones. In my 28 years with the diocese, he was always one you could count on and learn from. I will be forever indebted for his many kindnesses to me.

Fr. Frank was a great supporter of our retreats at Dominican Retreat and Conference Center, and served as our guest director for numerous programs over the years. While I am in a different assignment now, I remember Frank and the help he gave to so many. Sr. Fran, you and all the family are in my prayers.

Frank was an ispiration to all of us. When I entered the Army he was a great supporter and gave me insights to success. He exemplifies the motto of the Chaplain Corps, " For God And Country." May he rest in peace and enjoy the fullness of God's Kingdom.
