Nelson, Helene G. SCHENECTADY Helene G. Nelson, 96, passed away on April 29, 2017. Helene was born on February 23, 1921, in Hudson Falls, N.Y., the daughter of George F. and Josephine Nailor Barot. During her infancy her father called her "Peach," the name she was known by throughout her life. Following her graduation from Hudson Falls High School, Peach met Francis "Ozzie" Nelson. They were married October 19, 1941. Ozzie predeceased Peach on January 5, 2005, after 63 years of marriage. Peach was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, playing cards with family, and dipping her feet in a cool brook. Peach and Ozzie enjoyed annual vacations in St. Augustine, Fla., and the Thousand Islands, N.Y. They also spent many summers at their camp on Sacandaga Lake. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ronald) Coslick; son, Robert (Lynn) Nelson; grandsons, Ron Coslick Jr., Christopher Nelson, Daniel Nelson; granddaughter, Cynthia Coslick; and great-grandson, Grayson Coslick. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Peach was predeceased by her brother, Alvin Barot; and her sisters, Veronica Breeyear and Vivian Harvey. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their kind and caring support for Peach over the past few years. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Road, Schenectady, immediately following the Mass.
