Robert Longway Obituary

LEXINGTON, S.C. Robert E. Longway, 67, of Bridle Court, Lexington, S.C., and formerly of Clifton Park, died Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center, Columbia, from cancer. Robert was born in St. Albans, Vt. on January 22, 1935, the son of the late Edward and Laura Germaine Longway. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. Bob was in the Naval Reserves. He was employed by Sears-Roebuck, retiring in 1990 after spending 40 years as an assistant manager. Bob enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family at his camp at Caroga Lake. After retiring, he moved to Lexington, S.C. in 1991, lengthening the playing season for golf. Bob married the former Madonna Paquette on October 8, 1955. She predeceased him on August of 2001. Survivors include his son, Jeffrey (Bridget) Longway of Lexington, S.C.; daughters, Cynthia (Daniel) Klouse of Malta, Jeanne Coughlin of Lexington and Donna (John) Hogan of Malta; one brother, Stanley (Linda) Longway of St. Albans, Vt.; three sisters, Doris (Winfield) Boardman of St. Albans, Thelma Gingras of Venice, Fla., and Barbara (Clifford) Chagnon of Richford, Vt.; six cherished grandchildren, Amanda Klouse, William Coughlin, Emily and Laura Hogan, Gregory and Courtney Longway; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville, followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, Clifton Park, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorys Garden. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
