Edward T. "Ted" Furlong

Edward T. "Ted" Furlong, age 87, of West Toledo, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born July 12, 1918, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Francis (Ellen) Cordner) Furlong. He married Betty Jane Kruse on January 16, 1939, in Angola, IN, and she preceded him in death in 2003. He retired in 1980 after 40 years of service at Toledo Plate and Window Glass and was a member of the Greater Toledo Shutzhund Club with his late wife and spent time training German Shepherds in obedience, tracking and protection.
He is survived by his children, Edward (Kay) Furlong of Tiffin, Dennis (Pamela) Furlong of Missouri and Bill (Dr. Judi) Furlong of Swanton; grand-children, Edward (Anna) Furlong, Ruth (Rick) Fultz, Andy (Norma) Furlong, Steve Furlong, Brian Furlong, Bill Furlong II and Dana Furlong, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Nelson Furlong and wife, Betty Jane Furlong.
Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home, (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Friday from 3-8 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial, Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ted's name may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Mazin Salem, Dr. Jeanine Huttner and the nurses at Flower Hospital, Lake Park and Hospice. They would also like to thank his caregiver, Rhonda.
