Robert Williams Obituary
Robert "Bob" Williams, 85, of Monclova, Ohio, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2023.
He was born May 16, 1938, in Republic, Ohio, to Howard and Marie (Gooding) Williams. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1956, where he was active in the FFA and high school basketball. He entered the US Army Reserves after graduation and completed training as a mechanic.
On December 22, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Mardell "Mardy" Swander. Together they raised two children, Roxana (Dave) Keiser of Waterville, Ohio, and Mark (Anita) Williams of Swanton, Ohio.
In 1960, Bob began his career as an apprentice diesel mechanic at Great Lakes Diesel in Toledo, Ohio. In 1972 he joined Columbus Equipment also of Toledo, Ohio, to help establish the Diesel Engine and Transmission Rebuild Department, from where he retired in 2004. Near his retirement and until the very end, he was an Antique John Deere Tractor enthusiast! He began by restoring his father's 1944 John Deere B which he drove on the family farm as a young child. Bob truly had a servant's heart and was always helping family, friends, and neighbors with fixing and repairing things.
He was "Papa" to his fourteen grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren!
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mardy; and his three brothers, Wenzel, Howard Jr., and Richard Williams; and two sisters, Margery Wall and Alta Jean Groman. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Friday, October 13th, from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 14th, at Monclova Road Baptist Church, 7819 Monclova Rd. Monclova, OH, 43542, at 11:00 a.m., where the family will greet guests at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Roth Cemetery, Monclova, Ohio.

I will miss his bright Cherry smile at the YMCA when he got out of silver sneakers exercise class daily. We visited occasionally and talked about his John Deere tractor.
