To the family of General Betor: My sorrow is with you at the loss of the General. He was a patriot, but more importantly, an inspiration to all of us who served under him. Few men have had such an influence on the lives of so many people as he did, whether as an educator, a veteran, or a common citizen. It was an honor for me to have crossed paths with such a man.
Very sincerely,

To Mrs Betor and Family: I felt priviliged to be a member of the General's personal staff when he commanded the 50th Armored Division, and Viola and I also remember how much the General enjoyed the ethnic dishes served when our families joined for dinner. We regret we didn't maintain a closer relationship over the years and are very saddened to hear of your loss. Our prayers are with you.
