Thelma Sims Obituary

Thelma L. Sims, 88, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011, at her home. She was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Uniontown, and was a daughter of the late Walter P. and Hazel C. Lowdermilk. Thelma was a retired employee of the former Robertshaw Controls Co. with 40 years of service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg and had served as a deacon of the church, along with being active with the worship committee and the Lois Circle. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by her son, William Terry Sims, on May 10, 2008; and sister, Shirley Barnhart. Thelma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sims; grandson, William Sims; two stepgranddaughters, Lisa Driggers and Kathy Spears; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Sue Shoffner; a nephew, Bill Barnhart; and her extended family, Joyce and George Vargulish and Oma Hoffer. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Interment will be in Hoyes Cemetery in McHenry, Md. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Thelma's memory. Terence L. Graft, funeral director, entrusted with the arrangements.
