George "Doug" Martin Obituary

On May 2, 2015 God called to rest George Douglas Martin "Doug" to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born to the late John and Eunice (Harvey) Martin on February 24, 1957. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, David, John and Larry Martin and a great granddaughter, Indie Pannell.

Doug was a loyal and devoted employee of Griffin Pipe for 31 plus years and a dedicated New York Giants fan.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marva "Neicy" Barbour Martin; three daughters, Dr. Khalilah Brown Dean (William) of New Haven, CT, Megan and Courtney Martin both of Lynchburg, Va.; two God given daughters, Crystal Johnson (Javor) of Richmond, Va. and Jennifer Cranford of Lynchburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Mikayla Martin, Haley Dean, Keion Barbour, Keiona Barbour, Jamir Johnson and Jaylin Martin; two great grandchildren, Taj Jones and Noire Pannell; four brothers, John Martin (Nancy), Glover Martin both of Lynchburg, Va., William Martin (Lenora) of Concord, Va. and Clifton Martin of Rustburg, Va.; two sisters, Mary Turner (William) and Dorothy Martin both of Lynchburg, Va.; father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Evelyn Barbour; two sister-in-laws, Celeste Paige and Viola Thomas (Dwight) both of Lynchburg, Va.; one brother-in-law, Gregory Barbour (Denita) of Madison Heights, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1pm, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Community Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family is receiving friends at 413 Polk Street. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home. Condolences may be emailed to [email protected]
