Thomas E. Page, 88, formerly of Leechburg, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at 4:20 a.m., in Belair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell. Born Aug. 16, 1922, in Leechburg, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Julia (Lessig) Page. He was employed as a roller in the hot and cold mill departments at West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., having retired in 1980 with 40 years of service. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Vandergrift, where he was a member of the Christian fellowship, Sunday school class and choir. He was a 1939 graduate of Leechburg High School. Mr. Page was past post commander of the VFW and American Legion in Leechburg; past Armstrong County VFW commander and was the past 26th VFW post commander; member and past exalted ruler of the Leechburg Lodge BPO Elks in Leechburg; and a member of the Retirees of the USWA in Leechburg. He enjoyed reading, watching television, camping, doing woodworking, and working crossword puzzles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Young) Page, on May 17, 2009; and a granddaughter, Mandi M. Lingelbach. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Scalzott (John), of Lower Burrell, and Lois Solomon (David), of Alexandria, Va.; a grandson, Michael Nelson (Samantha), of Clarksburg, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Nelson, Morgan Nelson and Bradley Lingelbach; and three sisters, Dorothy Grimm, of Washington, N.C., Laurel Klingensmith, of Allegheny Township, and Polly Lambing, of South Leechburg, Allegheny Township. Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in CLAWSONS, 170 Main St., Leechburg, (724-842-1051), where his funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Officiating will be the Rev. Chuck Hildbold. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Gilpin Township.
