ALBERT MEIER

1926 - 2017

Albert John Meier Age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 10, 2017. He was born in Kimball, South Dakota on October 9, 1926 to parents Mary Schoop Meier and William F. Meier. A devoted man of faith, he trusted in the Lord throughout his entire life. Albert served in the Navy on the USS South Dakota battleship during WWII, and was a proud veteran. He was a devoted businessman, owning and operating Al Meier's Building Centers for 30 years in the South Puget Sound area, and was a founding partner in Arrow Lumber & Hardware. He was a lifetime member of the International Order of Hoo-Hoo, a fraternal and service organization for members of the forest product industry. Albert would always say he was a proud graduate from the school of hard knocks. He used his life experiences to inspire, guide, and mentor those around him. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Joyce, four sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Georgia, and three children, Randy David, Debbie, and Randi Lee, and son-in-law Dave. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara, Erin, Jeff, Hillary, Ken, Anthony, and Jennifer, along with six great-grandchildren. While the family had a private burial, a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 1 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 720 W Main, Puyallup, WA 98371, where Albert was a member for 60 years.
