Dear Richard,
I am not sure if you will remember me, but I just heard about Ruth a few days ago through an old classmate of ours. I had been trying to find and contact Ruth for quite a while. We were so close and I loved her very much, she was the sister I never had. I regret losing contact after a while when we moved back to Ohio. I am also sorry to see, Carole too has passed. My sincere deepest sympathies to you for Ruthie and Carole. I am so sorry. You were my second family during the one year living in Tucson...I haven't forgotten any of you. Thank you so much for your kindness you all showed me. Love to you and blessings. Suzanne Parra-Kovach
P.S. My mom, Faye is still living and doing fine...she too sends her sympathy. She always felt welcomed in your home and would have a great time. There were lots of laughs.

Dear Mrs. Hoppe-Weiss,
Thank you for the memories from Kingergarten. We were both in your class. I am now in 7th grade and Abriana is in 3rd. We remember you teaching us how to count in different languages like Spanish, Swahili, and Chinese. It was fun showing our parents all we learned at graduation. Rest in Peace - Ruben and Abriana Orantez.

Uncle Rich, I'm SO sorry to hear about Ruthie! She was way to young to leave her loving family, and friends. No parent should EVER have to bury a child.
God Bless Ruthie, her family, you and everyone else who's life she touched!
Your Godson,

Mrs.Hoppe-Weiss was my oldest son's Kindergarten teacher. He has fond memories of making biscuits in her class.
My two younger sons were also upset when they heard about her passing. Robert wanted me to post that he loved Mrs.Hoppe-Weiss and she will always be in his heart. He is a Kindergarten student, and although he was not in her class, he saw her every day and appreciated her smiles, hugs, and kind words.
She will be greatly missed!
Our deepest condolences to her family, and to everyone who loved her and had the priviledge of knowing her.

To the family of Ruth Hoppe Weiss:
My children were both students of hers. They are now 18 and 20 years old. I have read these tributes over and over here in other comments from past students. As a parent she was the one I left my children with their first day of school, I will always remember how she welcomed each child and made them feel at ease. We still have many of the projects she worked on with them and treasure them. Ruth began a legacy of understanding, caring and education with my kids and many, many others. We will always remember you. Our condolences to the family.

Although we were not related by blood we were sisters by choice, by heart and by soul.
For the last twenty years you were my sister, my best friend and my confidante. You were "Aunt Ruthie" to my daughters and an irreplaceable part of my life. Life goes by so fast and is so very busy, and although we didn’t get to be together as much as we wanted we were kindred souls and would pick up right were we left off from the last time we were together.
Now my kindred spirit, loosing you is loosing part of my heart. I will miss you forever!
I love you Sis!

Sometimes life just doesn't make any sense and this is such a time for those who can appreciate Ruthie's family and her contributions to others.
It has been many years since we watched Ruthie grow from a child to a lovely young women across the street on Rosewood. Richard and Carol found such joy in their beautiful daugther. As an only child too, I loved hearing and watching their accounts, often recalling my own parents.
It is hard to comprehend the heartbreak for her husband, but unimaginable sorrow for Richard. Hopefully there is some comfort knowing that Carol was waiting. Richard may you find comfort in knowing you were a wonderful father and that Ruthie was all any parent would have wanted in a daugther.
Sincere sympathy,
DeeAnn (Dover) Lubbers and family

Mrs. Hoppe-Weiss was our daughter's kindergarten teacher last year. She was the most caring, fun, and thoughtful person. She always made our day brighter. She made so many special memories for our daughter that will never be forgotten. She loved cooking, and making apple cobbler. Learning about Germany was so much fun for her also. Our daughter hopes to travel to Germany one day because of all the wonderful things Mrs. Hoppe-Weiss shared with her class. Mrs. Hoppe-Weiss will always be remembered in our hearts. Our family is so sorry for your loss.

I grew up in the same block as the Hoppes. I babysat Ruth Ann and she loved the show Daktari. She pretended to be Paula from the show all the time.. My mom and Carole and me and Ruth Ann went clothes shopping at Korby's one day. Carole was in the dressing room when over the loud speaker came " There is a little lost girl up here by the name of Paula. Carole told my mom " go get Ruth Ann!" That isone of my life's fondest memories. Ruth Ann was sweet and gentle.Rich and Stefan, you are in my prayers. Such a great loss for the world. Louise Ingwalson Mingo

Dear Dick and Stefan:
I was terribly saddened to hear of Ruth's death. She was such a wonderful girl and I literally watched her grow up into the wonderful adult she became. Her thoughts were always of helping her mom and dad and that was the reason she chose to live close. I will always remember the fun times we all shared. I will always remember Ruth and Stefan bringing a Chanukkah book over to my home so I could read it to my grandchildren. She will truly be missed. My prayers and love for Dick and Stefan.

I am so deeply saddened to learn of Ruth's untimely passing. Ruthie was one of my very closest and dearest friends throughout high school and college. My happiest memories of those years included Ruthie's unfaltering friendship and exhuberance for life. We laughed together, we cried together, we laughed until we cried together! It's hard to remember any time we spent together that did not include the pure joy that comes from honest and sincere friendship.
I truly regret that time and distance drew us apart but our lack of contact, in no way diminishes the important place she will always hold in my heart.
My prayers and condolences to her family and to all of us who lost such a bright light and special spirit.
Ruthie is singing with angels now.

Our family was in disbelief to hear of the terrible news. We had been Gallego parents for many years. Mrs. Hoppe-Weiss was my daughters kinder teacher and this year she is graduating from H.S. Words can not express how saddened we were to hear of Mrs. HoppeWeiss passing. She was always so cheery in the morning always greeting parents and students with a smile and at the end of the day no matter how hard it got she still had that friendly smile on her happy cheerful face. It was truly too soon for Ruth to leave us. We have lost a beautiful caring soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this tragic time.

She will be missed dearly. She was my son's kindergarten teacher and without this special woman in my life I would have never know my son was legally blind. She worked so hard with him everyday and she would praise him when he did good on her test. We miss you so much!

Stefan and Dick,
I have been praying for you every day as I walk the dog past your homes. Though I can't say that I knew Ruth well, I could always see that she meant so much to both of you. I particularly enjoyed hearing Dick & Carol talk about the many fun things that they did with her kindergarten class. Please let us know if there are ways that we can help out in the coming months.

Words are so hard to form right now. Ruthie and I have been friends since 1980. Oh what fun we had growing up!! I think our Mom's got in more trouble than us. Such good memories and laughs. Ruthie was like my big sis. Always smiling and always supportive. I know she was a truly amazing teacher. She was my true friend through the years. Oh how I am going to miss her! My heart is broken for the men in her life. I wish there was some way I could ease their sorrow and pain. Much too young to leave us. God bless you Ruthie, Stefan and Rich. I hold you all close in prayer.

I was in complete shock to get the news of Ruthie's passing. I worked with her for 18 years at Gallego up until her last days. Our friendship started when my oldest son Jeremy had her for kindergarten. She always had this great smile and was always so kind and generous to everyone. Jeremy is now 26 yrs. old and after completeing high school and college, Ruthie was always his favorite teacher.
Also upon request my youngest son, Jeffrey had her for kindergarten and is now 22 yrs. old and attends NAU in Flagstaff. Everytime he was in town he would make a point of visiting her at school just to get her word of encouragement that always meant so much to him. Ruthie has always meant so much to my family.
She was not just a great co-worker, but also my dear friend. We always had great laughs. I will miss her dearly...

I had not kept up with Ruth at all after Rincon. I'm not even sure she thought of me as a friend or just a guy she knew, but she was always friendly, positive, supportive -- critical only in constructive ways with me. My thoughts go out to her family, friends and students.
