Don ROSEN

1921 - 2015

Age 94, passed away September 17, 2015, in Minneapolis. He was born March 27, 1921, in Minneapolis. Don was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen Rosen; his parents, Minnie and Louie Rosen; brother, Harold Rosen; grandson, Quentin Dachis; sister-in-law, Harriet (Harvey) Katzovitz; and brother-in-law, Arthur Moscoe. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Joel) Waller, Eileen (Jim) Gantman, and Bonnie (Eddie) Engler; son, Larry (Linda) Rosen; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; brothers, Barney (Sally) Rosen and Phillip (Maryanne) Rosen; sister, Phillis (Gerry) Fields; sisters-in-law, Marcia (Aaron) Pinkus and Charlene (Mende) Gruesner; brother-in-law Frank (Isla) Katzovitz and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Don served in the army during World War II; his unit freed one of Germany's concentration camps. He was employed by Vic Cleaning Machine Company before leaving for service, and when he returned in 1945, he continued working for the Victors. Oscar Victor and Don were close old friends. Later, Don was hired by Phil Haspel to be a sales manager for Johnny-on-the Spot and Pilgrim Cleaners. Eventually, he bought Mr. Haspel out of the business, and Pilgrim Cleaners became the Rosen Family legacy. To this date, Pilgrim is owned by his daughter, Bonnie Engler and employs third generation, Derek Engler. Don's son, Larry Rosen, also plays an integral role in the business. Don's love for his family and his generosity for the community will be remembered by all. He was a role model to everyone and he will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be held SUNDAY, 10:00 am, BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry St. W., St. Louis Park. Memorials are preferred to the Helen and Don Rosen Endowment Fund at Beth El Synagogue or the Children's Cancer Research Fund or the charity of one's choice.
