I am shocked and deeply saddened by the news of George's passing. I worked at Arthur Ashe for a short period of time with George. I didn't know him very well, but even from the brief time we spent together, it was clear what a passionate, energetic, and joyful person George was. His unyielding optimism and vibrant enthusiasm were an inspiration to his fellow educators. He will be deeply missed by his students, colleagues, and loved ones. My sincere condolences go out to his friends and family.

To the Paitich/Follmer Families~
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. There are no words I can say to make the hurt go away. We lost our daughter Carrie in 2010 & I know what you're going through. You're children aren't suppose to go before us. George was an awesome kid. I remember George, Nick, Kyle & Johnny in hockey. Great memories. You will be in my thoughts.

I didn't know George well, only had a couple courses at Metro with him. But from those classes, I could tell he was a special person. Such an inspiration, it was a privilege to have him as a peer.
My deepest condolences to his loved ones. Through your grief, may you find comfort knowing all of the lives he touched and the positivity he put into the world. Those who knew him, even if only a little, were truly lucky. George's impact on this world will be felt forever. #forthekids

My deepest condolences go out to the family. My son Noah was one of his students here in New Orleans. Noah had a very special closeness with "Mr. G". He really made an impact on him academically, emotionally and socially. I'm sure all of his students were his little angels. Now they all have an angel to watch over them. George was one of those great teachers that cared for education as well as the children's well-being. He was a wonderful teacher and will be greatly missed.
