Lenore GOLLOP Obituary

of St. Paul Born June 28, 1936, passed away February 2, 2017, at the age of 80. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Shale Gollop; her children, Chuck Gollop (his special friend Sofya Melikova), Steven Levey (Sue), Diane Roeser (Richard); and her grandchildren, Mitchell (Nicky) and Danelle Roeser, Rebecca and Sam Levey, Louis and Leah Gollop; her sisters, Barbara Dreyfuss and Marlene (Laury) Strauss; as well as brother-in-law, Edgar (Darlene) Gollop; and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Hyman Rosenblum. She lived in St. Paul the majority of her life, and spent a few years in Duluth, married to her previous husband, Edwin Levey. She attended Groveland Grade School, Central High School ('54), and the U of M (A.A. '56). The reunions and social gatherings were a large part of her life and built great memories. She cherished her years working at St. Kate's and Jefferson Smurfit, as well as volunteering at United Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. Being a part of many social clubs helped her stay connected to people she loved in the community.Thank you to her many friends from mah jongg, book club, play group, and dinner club. She is proud to have co-authored a book about Shale's father "Sing Shorty Sing". She also loved writing poetry for special occasions and her writing was published in the St. Paul Almanac years ago. Everyone thought she was difficult when ordering off a menu; she wasn't demanding, she was battling intestinal problems for years which ultimately, despite her courageous battle, she lost. Because of her passion for helping others; in lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, National Processing Center, PO Box1245, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9976 (www.ccfa.org). I worked with Lenore at St. Kate's in the 80's, then reconnected recently through Giving Voice Chorus. Will miss her boundless energy and great sense of humor.

Dear Shale,

I offer you and your whole family my deepest condolences on the passing of Lenore. I recall with fondness the summers that you and I worked together at Sibley house (in 2004 and 2005). I remember you spoke with much love and affection for your wife and family. You are in my thoughts. I wish you peace and love at this time. - Carolyn Swiszcz

Lenore volunteered at United Hospital for almost 16 years, providing more than 2,684 hours of volunteer service (most of these) in the Surgical Guest Lounge, providing comfort and information to waiting patient families. Lenore was smart and witty, didn't sugar coat much and you could not help but like her. Lenore will be missed by all of her Tuesday morning friends at United Hospital.
Our condolences to Lenore's family. Thank you for sharing her with those of us at United, lucky enough to have known her.

To The Gollop Family, I didn't know Lenore, but I know the pain she went through with the Crohn's. I am sure she is now an Angel with Golden Wings. Bless Her Heart.
