I didn't know Bill as Bill, I knew him as Grandpa. He was truly the most incredible man that has ever been in my life. My father is so much like him. Grandpa did so many things to give me happy memories. He taught me how to play euchre...anyone he taught, knows how he taught. He took me for tractor rides when I was younger. I also remember sitting on his lap laying my head on his chest, just so I could listen to his pocket watch tick. A truly unforgettable person who touched my life in so many ways. That was grandpa!

I was a kid last time I saw Billy. But people like him impact your life . . so pure, honest, giving, funny . . . I lived a mile or so up the farm road (not dirt anymore) . . I learned to play cards in his barn, milk cows and came with my Mom to buy eggs and smell the most incredible meals in their kitchen. My daughter is almost 4 years old and i can only hope she is graced with the values and delightful experiences brought into this world by people like Billy. All my love to his family. I regret i cannot get there to see you.

Oh the memories that come back when we loose someone soooo special. I can think of so many of those memories large and small from a place to stop for just a cup of coffee and a short visit to helping a neighbor dig themselves out of a snow bank - he and Ethel were always there to help out and to make the "new kids (young and old)" in the neighborhood feel welcome.
He will be deeply missed by all of us and the old neighborhood will never be the same without him.
Love and Prayers for him and to Ethel and all the family.

When you live such a distance away you miss many things. You miss the chance to visit and spend some time with those you truly admire. Uncle Bill was to me the greatest example of Humility that I could ever define. He was just Bill and as a result he gained the love and affection of his nieces and nephews.
The fondest memory I have is the day that He and Aunt Ethel celebrated their 50th anniversary and after the gathering at the Columbian Hall, we went to the farm where Uncle Bill quickly got out of those go to church clothes and dispatched his children off to one of the kids house to carry on the partying. He then brought down a huge box of pictures and Aunt Ethel, Uncle Bill and myself went thru those pictures one by one and they told me about them. His mind was sharp and he gave me the greatest gift that any family member could get. I was able to listen to the family history from one who lived it. He never judged anyone, and only had good things to say about everyone. I will always treasure the fact that he gave me that much time on that special day.
May he be greeted by his mother and father as well as his brothers and sisters. Save a space for all of us, we are on the path right behind you. You were loved by someone who knows what love is all about.
