EDWARD DIVES IMPINK "Ed"
Edward "Ed" Dives Impink of Falls Church, VA, peacefully crossed his final finish line on September 24, 2018, at the home of his daughter after a battle with cancer. Ed was born on August 31, 1940 in Reading, PA, and was preceded in death by his parents Robert Rehr Impink and Mary Dives Impink. He is survived by his devoted daughter Sara Rehr Impink; son-in-law Jason Jugar; grandchildren Ethan Edward, Aidan Jeffrey, and Felix Rehr; best friend Chris Simmons and her children David Betzel (Courtney) and Stephanie Weeren (Kevin); sisters Anne Impink Hall (Jim), Mary "Mimi" Impink Fosnocht (Bill), and Deborah Impink; stepmother Margaret Impink, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He will also be missed by his granddog, Evey. Ed raced Formula Vee race cars for 50 years, and was always willing to help out his fellow drivers with his mechanical prowess and driving advice. Ed was extremely selfless and would offer his time, help and knowledge to friends, family, and strangers alike. Ed will be remembered as a friend, a mentor, a giver, thoughtful, loyal, a lover of vanilla ice cream, and one hell of a son, brother, father and grandfather. A private burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery in Reading, PA, immediately following a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on September 29 at St. John Baptist de la Salle Church in Shillington, PA. A Celebration of a life well lived will be held in Virginia in the upcoming weeks for all of Ed's friends and family.

Mr. Impink was the BEST, most patient, instructor I had in Motorcycle Technology. It was because of him I became a mechanic. I will always fondly remember him

Mr. Impink thought me motorcycle maintenance, at the Nation Technical Institute in College Park. He was my most memorable instructor, as his knowledge and encouragement help me attain my goals ... a VERY good man ... ot many left...

My sincere condolences to Ed,s family. I knew and admired him at Portsmouth Priory School and enjoyed seeing him at Portsmouth alumni functions. He was very nice to new younger students like me and I always remember his encouragement. Sadly I did not know his racing history nor that he lived close by. Please keep me informed of the Virginia memorial service and I will pass it on to local Priory people. My prayers for both him and the family

I remember waiting on Fast Eddie at the Warehouse restaurant in Old Town Alexandri in the early 70s. Half carafe of house red wine, Lord Fairfax (cheeseburger) salad with extra blue cheese,baked potato and finished with a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Later on he became enamored with my good friend Chris Simmons and daughter Sally became a part of their family. I am mourning the loss of an absolutely wonderful man.
