Boyd Fletcher Patterson

PATTERSON EAST BEND - Boyd Fletcher Patterson, 82, of East Bend, died unexpectedly Thursday, December 11, 2009. He was born in Yadkin County on January 21, 1927 to Davis Wilson and Thelma Fletcher Patterson. Born to this union were three sons, of which one survives. Boyd and wife, Freida were married October, 1953 and had 56 years of happiness. He was well liked and loved by his wife, friends, and family. He had a tremendous memory for recalling dates, events, etc. and he will be greatly missed. He was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church from the early forties until his death. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1945 during World War II in Germany. He was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1947 and retired in 1982, having worked 34 years and he also grew cattle up until 2008. Those who are left to celebrate his life are his wife, Freida Holbrook Patterson of the home; a brother, Warren (Louise) Patterson of East Bend; two nephews, William A. Patterson and Ronnie L. Patterson, both of Winston-Salem; one niece, Angela Overby of East Bend; and cousins and nieces. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, December 15, at 11 a.m. at the Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend officiated by the Rev. Bobby Watts and the Rev. Ottis Hurst. The body will lie instate from 10:30 until 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4332 Mt. Bethel Church Road, East Bend, NC 17018. The family would like to thank Dr. John Patterson and the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Emergency Department for the care they received.
