Richard Bogan Obituary

Richard F. (Dick) Bogan
Waterville
Richard F. (Dick) Bogan, 66, of Waterville, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born June 26, 1942, in Utica, the son of the late Clayton and Marion Van Slyke Bogan, and was a graduate of Waterville Central School, class of 1960. From 1961-1965, Dick proudly served his country in the US Navy. He later served in the US Naval Reserves. For many years, Mr. Bogan was employed with Burrough's Business Machines in New Hartford. He was a very active member and past commander and past officer of the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post #92. Dick was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by four children and a son-in-law, Jerry Bogan and John Bogan, both of Allentown, PA, Brenda and Terry Dow of Hamilton, and Leslie Bogan and her fianc, Keith King, of Clinton; a sister, Jane Brown of Waterville; his former wife, Rosemary Bogan Coleman of Vernon Center; nine grandchildren; a niece; two nephews; and many close friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville. Interment with legion honors will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday evening from 5-8 at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville. Members of the American Legion will meet Wednesday at 7 o'clock at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kaul, Dr. Wassel and the nurses in the ICU at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for all their wonderful care and compassion. Leslie, I was very sad to hear your dad passed away. He was a good friend to my dad. I will miss going on the "tours" with them!
