Erica Blasberg Obituary
Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said Monday that authorities were investigating the 25-year-old Blasberg's death. It was not immediately clear whether foul play was involved.
Paul said police responded to a 911 call and were dispatched to Blasberg's suburban three-bedroom house around 3 p.m. on Sunday. Paul declined to say who made the call, saying it was part of the investigation.
Blasberg's agent, Chase Callahan, confirmed her death but declined to provide details because of the investigation.
Messages left with the coroner's office in Las Vegas on Monday were not returned.
Blasberg played her only LPGA Tour event this year two weeks ago in Mexico and tied for 44th.
She found greater success in college, winning six times in two years at the University of Arizona and playing on the Curtis Cup team in 2004. She turned professional that year.
LPGA spokesman David Higdon called Blasberg's death a "tough hit" for women's golf.
"She was a very popular player and well-liked and we're going to miss her," Higdon said. "This is a very close-knit group of players and tour and we're saddened by what happened."
LPGA player Meg Mallon said the news will "hit hard" for tour participants.
"I'm just very sad and just really kind of sick to my stomach that a life ended so young," Mallon said.
"People in Mexico passed her by or hit balls next to her on the range and everyone's having their own moments right now," she said.
Blasberg's death was first reported by Golfweek magazine.

Erica stayed with us during the 2001 Women's Amateur in Kansas. We remember a delightful young girl and are deeply saddened by her passing. We have followed her career by Internet. We pray God will grant her family peace during this most difficult time.

Big HUGS to the family. I watched Good Morning America, saw mom and dad talking about Erica. It's hard to talk about someone we just lost. Took me 4 years to talk about my mom when she passed. She was a beautiful young woman and an inspiration for young athletes.

It is a sad thing to see a young person being called back home in what we may believe "A little too soon." God knows when it is best to call his sheep home. She may not have lived as long as she and her family would have liked, but no one is guaranteed to live to be 100 years. She is in God's house now. I am totally heartbroken. Erica was such a wonderful person. I was fortunate to have met her several times while volunteering at & attending LPGA tournaments. She quickly became my favorite. She always took the time to talk with me and was alwys so gracious and kind. I will miss her terribly. My deepest sympathies go out to Erica's family, friends & all those who she touched. FOR MOST OF US, WE ARE GOLF FANS. BUT WE GET ATTACHED TO FOLLOWING THEIR CAREER AND IT BECOMES A WEEKLY THING TO CHECK THEIR SCORES AT THE END OF EACH ROUND.
SHE WOULD HAVE CREATED A HUGH FOLLOWING AND THOUSANDS WOULD HAVE FOLLOWED HER SUCCESS AS SHE MOVED UP THE LADDER.
