I have a letter written to me and my sisters, from Mr. Dixon, written at the time of my mothers death in 1980. It was so kind of him. Today I wondered what happened to him. I live in Idaho now, at the time of my mothers death I lived in Jackson Hole, Wy.,I am almost 86 now and thinking about the past. I realize so much time has past since Mr. Dixons death, but I would like to express my deepest sympathy to his family. He was a very kind man.

John 11:33 says: "When Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come with her weeping and groaning, he groaned within himself and became troubled." Jesus expressed tears when his friend Lazarus died, he knows how it feels to lose a dead loved one and he understands what you and your family are experiencing. May this bring you and your family comfort in this time of need. cjp (fla.)

To the family of Senator Alan Dixon
I regret very much missing his wake. Please accept our sympathy on your great loss.
Senator Dixon was clearly a historic person who exemplified all that is good and wholesome about American politics.
He set the mark for all of us who serve whatever our position. He never forgot the words of Speaker Sam Rayburn that, “any office within the gift of the people is a great honor”.
Alan Dixon's long tenure in public office as well as his work as an attorney was marked with distinction. He was a man of competence and integrity, but with unfailing courtesy to everyone with whom he dealt.
I can still recall Senator Dixon's concession speech the day after the primary in 1992. He spoke eloquently of his years of public service and he stated, something to the effect: “I have drunk deeply from the fountain of public service and I am fully satisfied…” My memory may cause me to forget the accuracy of this quote, but his vivid description of a great career is something we should all remember especially those who serve in public office.

Senator Dixon was among the few far-American politicians who believed that democracy and human rights are not only selected, but for all mankind. Thank him for all that he opened his door and pointed me confidence as an unknown person to carry on the fight for the freedom of my people and all people.
Wife and family of Senator Alan and all Americans to express my deepest sympathy with the firm belief that the good Lord receive Senator Alan under its protection.

Alan Dixon and I met in the late 50's in our Young Democrat Days. Our friendship grew over the years. We worked together on numerous campaigns for many Democratic candidates and causes. He excelled in every office that he held. He was a champion for the little guy and the working people. I truly admired the guy for his courage and positions on their behalf. He was a dear friend that we ALL will miss. So long Pal. Bob Gibson, President Emeritus, Illinois AFL-CIO.

"Well done good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23) As a college student, along with then Comptroller Roland Burris, then Secretary of State Alan Dixon, responded to my telephone call for help. Staff members laughed at my audacity… but these two gentlemen listened and helped me. He was a true public servant… Again, thank you Sir. Prayers and thoughts for peace during this season of grief and new beginnings.

RIP My stepfather was friends with you and worked the local political scene with you for many, many years. You wrote the nicest letter to my mother when he passed. You were in DC and couldn't make it back in time for his funeral. I never had the chance to meet you until the day you were moving into your offices at Bryan Cave. I was working there at the time and introduced myself in the elevator. Handling your own doc boxes I might add. Folks there were excited to have you on board. We thought a lot of you in my family. Peace and healing to your family and friends.
