Will Holt Obituary
He died May 31 in Los Angeles.
Holt composed “Lemon Tree” in the late 1950s, and the song soon became popular among folk singers. It was recorded by the Kingston Trio in 1961 and appeared on the debut album of the folk trio Peter, Paul & Mary in 1962. The song also was recorded by Bob Marley and Chad & Jeremy. The most popular version of the song was recorded by Trini Lopez in 1965.
Holt made his Broadway debut in 1969 with "Come Summer" and also wrote the book for the musical "Over Here!"
Survivors include his wife, son and two grandchildren.

I saw The Me Nobody Knows in 1970; I was nine-years-old. I am now 54 (soon to be 55) and I can still remember the night I saw the show. It was beautiful, painful, haunting and inspiring. It had an incredible impact on me; thank you, Will Holt.

I worked for Mr.Holt's mom and dad as a teenager at their lovely cottage at the head of Long Lake in North Bridgton. I meet Will their a few times as he would visit his mom and dad there. He and his family were very loving caring people. So sorry to hear of Will's passing and condolences to his wife and children.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Holt's death. I am very appreciative for the contribution he made to the Folk Music genre. My earnest petition is that the peace of God that surpasses all understanding caresses this family during your time of sadness.
