Jeanne Parr

Jeanne Parr, pioneering CBS correspondent and mother of actor Chris Noth, has died at the age of 92, according to Variety. Parr died May 20.

Chris Noth said in a statement, "My mother lived fiercely with courage and love." She never accepted anything less than her dreams. And she wanted those same qualities for her children. She lived long and died surrounded by those she loved and who loved her."

Parr was one of the first female correspondents hired by CBS. She began her broadcasting career at WKOW in her hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. She was eventually noticed by a CBS producer who brought her to New York where she became the weathergirl on “The Jim Jensen Show.”

She then became a reporter for CBS and covered many important stories including the Republican National Convention in San Francisco and the New York/Newark riots in 1967. Later she hosted her own talk show titled, “The Jeanne Parr Show.”

Parr also produced documentaries and wrote “The Superwives,” a book about the wives of well-known athletes.

Parr is survived by her three sons, Charles James Noth, Michael Parr Noth and Chris Noth; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
