John H. Parr, 82, of Sun City, AZ passed away on January 30th, 2026 at Banner Boswell Hospital. John was born in Miami, OK on March 21st, 1943 to Donald C. Parr and Jane M. Parr. John grew up mostly in Attica, KS graduating from Attica High School in 1961. During high school John was proud of his records in track and field and basketball. He also got many high ratings for his singing. John and his family ran the Attica Independent Paper during their years in Attica and also a newspaper in Show Low, AZ. He also worked for American Hot Rod Magazine in Lenexa, KS.

John was enlisted in the Air National Guard Reserve where he had monthly meetings until his unit was activated in January 1968, during the Pueblo Crisis.

On July 20th, 1968 John married the love of his life Donna Dix Parr at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita, KS.

John was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, TX where he was stationed until June, 1969. John and Donna moved to Lee's Summit, MO in June, 1969. He managed the Lee's Summit Journal until 1975 and then John started his own company, Summit Medical. In 1984 John sold his company. In 1987 John joined his wife in the salon and spa business, creating the well-known salons Par Exsalonce Salon and Day Spas in Overland Park, KS and Scottsdale, AZ where he and Donna moved to in 1988. Being in the beautiful southwest John was able to pursue his passion for photography. He loved going up on the Mogollon Rim to take pictures of the wildlife, ponderosa pine and the fall colors of the trees. He also loved taking pictures of the wildflowers in the desert. John also wrote a book called "The Pack".

John was kind and a little quiet with an intellectual sense of humor. His favorite was to be around family and good friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Jane Parr, his sister, Cindy Parr Sickles, brother-in-law Tony Sorrentino and Mother and Father-in-law, Don and Reba Dix.

John is survived by his wife Donna, nieces, Renee Rainey, Robin Palethorpe and her children Sierra and Hudson, Reesa Brown (Sheldon) and their children, Zach, Sierra and Ty, nephew, Alan Dix (Corrine) and their children, Maggie, Anna and Ethan. He is also survived by his cousin Marc Kissinger (Debra).
