A True Gentleman
I remember going to Joes’ house in Aigburth after meeting him at the Philharmonic Hall at the interval of a Joe Brown concert, I told him I write songs and he asked me could he listen to something I’d written so he invited me to his home where I gave him a cassette with a few songs I had recorded, after a short while he phoned me and said he liked them very much, the songs I gave him were “Candlelight Lover’s” and “Don’t Go Kisses” and he said “the test of a good song is if children catch on to them and like them then you know if they are good or not, he his relations children loved them and he said to me you should write for Musicals, I was honoured by his kind words and it will always be a fond memory of a true legend of the Merseybeat music scene.

Joe worked for many years as Beryl Marsdens manager(she sang with Rod Stewart in the band Shotgun Express in 66.)Joe also revived his booking manager rôle in the 70s in Liverpool with his agency Carlton Brook. The most polite man in the music business.
