Marilynn Wood

Marilynn Mirkin Wood left her body peacefully September 12, 2022; she was at home and surrounded by family. Born March 17, 1939 she was the daughter of Fred Mirkin and Estelle Avery. She grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School in 1957. Marilynn started her career at Merrill Lynch and retired from Smith Barney. She was an avid reader, a die-hard Oklahoma Sooner fan, gardener, and shopper (especially in Utica Square at Miss Jacksons and Petty's).

Her smile and laughter kept her young at heart. She loved cooking, and was famous for her Amaretto Cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, whom affectionately called her 'Mimi'. Her beloved Bichon, Mollie Sunshine, occupied a special place in her heart. She enjoyed watching her reality TV and everyone knew not to call during the Bachelorette. She was at her core a true Tulsa girl still keeping up with current events by reading the Tulsa World daily.

Marilynn was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Estelle Mirkin, her brother, Tony Mirkin, her sister, Phyllis Mirkin Adels, her son Rick Simon, and her special niece, Nanci Adels Fine. She is survived by her children Stacey Simon, Sherry Simon, and Grant Simon, and her grandchildren Cooper Simon, Hannah Simon, Avery Simon, Jonathan Orozco-Egan, Jacquelyne Orozco-Egan, Jaycob Orozco-Egan, Gabriella Simon, and her nieces, Dawn Adels Fine, Jill Adels Klaff, and Allison Adels.
