Ms. Zora B. Aimes was born on January 18, 1947, in
New Boston, Texas, to the late Jack and Ruthie Aimes. She was the tenth of fourteen children, growing up in a large, close-knit family that shaped her lifelong devotion to faith, love, and service. From an early age, Zora's life reflected a deep commitment to learning, family, and God, values that would guide her every step.
She attended Central High School and continued her education with determination and purpose, studying at the Arlington School of Key Punch and Tarrant County Junior College. Later, she answered a higher calling by earning a degree in Biblical Studies from Southern Bible Institute in
Dallas, Texas. Zora began her professional career as a data processor, working diligently at Texas Instruments and the Texas Employment Commission from 1967 to 1980. During this season, God began to stir her heart toward ministry, leading her to step away from her career to fully embrace her calling.
Zora faithfully served in ministry at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where she carried out her role as First Lady with grace and humility. She poured herself into teaching as an Adult Women's Sunday School teacher, a Youth Bible teacher, a devoted choir member, and a steadfast servant of the church all while lovingly raising her four children. Her life was a testament to balance, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. Later, she returned to the workforce and continued to excel, serving as Supervisor of the Reproduction Department at Lockheed Martin until her retirement in 2002.
In her later years, Zora reunited with her home church, Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a volunteer with "Water from the Rock" and was an active and cherished member of the Seniors Bible Class. Her commitment to God's Word and her church community never wavered, and she remained a quiet but powerful example of faithful service.
Zora deeply loved her family and extended family, finding her greatest joy in nurturing those she loved. Her favorite pastimes included participating family Bible studies and spending precious time with her children and grandchildren. She especially cherished the sisterhood she shared with her beloved sisters, affectionately known as "The Fabulous Aimes Girls," and treasured her friendships with Kay Francis Cotton (preceded in death), Johnnie Johnson, Emma Bassett, and Dora Holmes (preceded in death). She also held a special place in her heart for her bonus children, Linda and Darren Holmes, as well as her neighbors.
She will forever be remembered for her powerful legacy of biblical teaching, her unwavering dedication to leading her family into a deeper relationship with Christ, and her boundless love as a mother, grandmother, and friend. Zora was a caring and devoted mother to her children, a fun-loving "Memaw" to her grandchildren, a wonderful bonus mom, a loyal friend, and a great cook whose meals were seasoned with love. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Tamela Jones; her granddaughter, Tiffany Daniels; her great-granddaughter, Amiaya Cassidy; her parents, Jack and Ruthie Aimes; three sisters; and six brothers.
Zora leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving children: Carla Daniels-Hill (Larry), Rev. B. R. Daniels, Jr., and Rhonda Daniels; her grandchildren: Crystal Jones, Tara Jones-Cassidy (James), Alonzo Jones, Brittany Daniels, Cameron Hill, Briana Daniels, and Camille Hill; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Her life was impactful and a blessing and her legacy of faith, biblical studies and abundant love for family will live on for generations.
