Vicki Herrin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paradise Funeral Home - Dallas on Feb. 18, 2026.
Vicki Lynn Herrin, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, treasured grandmother, and dear friend, was surrounded by love as she peacefully transitioned from this life on February 12, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by love. She was born on May 4, 1955, in Springhill, Louisiana, at Swan Memorial Clinic to the late Homer Herman Shaw and Lillie Ofelia Warren Shaw, who laid the foundation of faith, strength, and family that she carried throughout her life.

As the baby of three girls, Vicki was lovingly cared for by her big sister, Nina McLemore, who often babysat her and later trained her when she began working at Kipp's Big Boy Restaurant. Under her sister's guidance, she learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and excellence. Every summer, Vicki would visit her sister Nina to babysit her children, carefully saving her earnings so she could purchase her own school clothes - even then showing her independence, determination, and strong work ethic.

Vicki attended Charles Brown High School in Springhill, Louisiana, and later continued her education at Carrie Martin High School in Plain Dealing, Louisiana.

On November 30, 1971, she married the love of her life, Bobby Herrin, and this beautiful union was blessed with four children: Bobby Ray Herrin, Jr., Pamela Denise Herrin, LaWanda Herrin, and LaRonda Herrin. She worked faithfully at Kipp's Big Boy Restaurant until the birth of her twins, after which she devoted herself wholeheartedly to motherhood and family.

Gifted with creative and skillful hands, Vicki was the family seamstress - if you needed it made, she could create it. She also prepared taxes for many, always serving with generosity. Her home was a place of love and structure, where she nurtured countless children. She faithfully cooked for First Baptist Downtown Outreach Church, and her famous peanut butter cookies and Rice Krispies treats were sweet expressions of her love. Vicki led the Shaw family reunion committee, keeping the family connected and celebrations unforgettable. She also loved decorating for holidays, filling Halloween, Easter, and Christmas with beauty and joy.

Wife, Mom, Granny, Auntie, Mommy Vicki - these were just a few of the names she was lovingly called. She was not only a mother of four, but a mother to many. If you were hungry, she would feed you. If you were in need, "Take what you need - I can get some more," was always her response. When you needed someone to talk to, she would listen. Be careful though - she would tell you the truth, even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear, but it was always what you needed.

Vicki found joy in making others happy. Whether cooking a favorite meal, baking a special dessert, sewing an outfit, or simply offering wise counsel, her happiness came from serving others. The love she shared cannot be measured.

She was joyfully reunited in heaven with her loving parents, Homer and Lillie Shaw; her precious son, Bobby Ray Herrin, Jr.; her beloved brothers, Herman Shaw, Homer Shaw, and Van Edward Shaw; her cherished sisters, Martha Ann Taylor and Violet Raye Johnson; her sister-in-law, Lucille Grisby; and her brothers-in-law, Melvin Herrin, Glenn Herrin, and Larry Herrin, who all preceded her in eternal peace.

Her love continues to bloom in the lives of those she held most dear - her beloved husband of over 50 years, Bobby Herrin; her devoted daughters, Pamela Denise Herrin, LaWanda Herrin, and LaRonda Herrin; her treasured grandchildren, Javonte Herrin, Desmond Herrin, Camilla Herrin, Chakara Metoyer, LarTrecia Herrin, Hydia Herrin, and Bobby Herrin III; and her precious great-grandchildren, Ja'Kaylee Lynn Herrin and Serenity Sage Herrin. She also leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Nina McLemore and Mary Anne McLemore (Walter); her dear brother, Martin Shaw; her sister-in-law, Linda Herrin; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whose lives were forever touched by her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love.

Vicki Lynn Herrin's life was beautifully woven into the fabric of her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, strength, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
