Maxine Toliver Obituary
Maxine Ann Toliver, 57, of Stafford, Va., departed this life on February 15, 2026.
Maxine leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Roy V. Toliver; three sons, Roylando (Diana), Michael, and Christian (aka CJ); her siblings, Dean, Danny, Yvonne, (Norval), Peter (Leona), Robert, and Sharon (Errol); and a host of other relatives.
A viewing will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 161 Embrey Mill Road, Stafford, VA 22554, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 9 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172 at 12:30 p.m.

Maxine we worked together over 30 years ago as young adults in our first jobs in hospitality. I watched as you fell in love and was swept off your feet by Roy. Even though we grew apart over the years, your infectious smile and gentle spirit are the qualities which still stands out to me. I know Roy’s heart is broken and only time can heal this hurt. Roy have comfort in the fact that we are holding you up in our prayers. Maxine we love you and hope you will have eternal peace.

Aunt Maxine, you were such a light in this world and a wonderful person. I loved my time with you all years ago on my visit to VA and enjoyed hearing all of your stories about growing up in Jamaica and the things you overcame to be the amazing woman you were today. Maxine, you will always have a special place in my heart. We were two young Jamaica women, married to military men...trying to navigate life in a foreign country. Our academic ambition lead us both to NOVA. I realized your greatness and humanity the first time I visited the computer lab (1993) where you worked. I observed your disposition and work ethics too. I knew I found a friend for life. Your body may have left us, but your legacy will live on.
P.S. I knew that little light by my side was you, girl. I was wondering what took you so long! I knew you would come see me. I love you, Max.

Condolences to the family and friends of Maxine. I pray for comfort and peace for all the mourners. Did not know Maxine that well but as a beautiful part of the Spanish Town Primary (STP) family. I remember her as one of the two-sisters dynamic (sisters a year or two apart that hung together) that was common with our age group at STP. May her beautiful soul rest peacefully

I worked with Maxine for many years at the Woodbridge campus of NOVA. She always had a smile and dealt with the difficult and frustrating that arose every day when working with students, faculty and administrators. When I left NOVA to work at another institution, Maxine was one of the people who I missed a great deal. There was no one else like her.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. It was my joy and privilege to work with Maxine for almost 25 years. We would laugh and talk about campus issues, and we would talk about our mutal love of Jamaica, where she and my mother were born. Her warm and kind personality was a balm to everyone she came in contact with. I will miss her greatly and continue to pray for her everyday for the rest of my life. I wish Roy, Roylando, CJ and Micheal all the very best that I can wish. I know this is a very trying time for you all but always think of the happy memories you had with her. Oh Maxine... words cannot take away the pain of your loss. The short time I knew you, I would always complement you on how you would walk all the way from village to the WRC building (cold, rain, & hot sun) with a smile and that same answer... oh it's not that bad. I always looked forward to your ever matching attire from head to toe. I would ask, how do you always coordinate everything together, every morning... You would say, "my husband always gets me all these things and shrug" I didn't know you that long and I was praying all will be well when I heard you were sick. Its apparent God needs you more... and to the family, I am so sorry for your loss, may her light continue to shine in your hearts, may the cherished memories of Maxine bring you comfort through these difficult times.
