MECHANICVILLE - Robert Francis Leonard, 83, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, following a brief illness. He was born on February 23, 1943, and lived a full life centered around his family, friends, and simple joys.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances; his parents, Walter Leonard and Flora Webster; his sisters, Marjorie Ward and Althea Lowell (Jimmy); and his brothers, Alton Leonard (Carmella) and Gerald Leonard (Gwen).
He is lovingly survived by his children, Robert Leonard (Jessica), Michael Leonard (Jennifer), and Lori Burdo (Craig). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren, Allison Leonard, Kaylie Leonard, Madelyn Leonard, Brody Burdo, Sierra Leonard, Kaden Burdo, Raelin Leonard, Aubrey Burdo, and Penny Leonard. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen DeMarco (Buckie); and his brother-in-law, Edward Yaksta (Viola); along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Robert was a graduate of Mechanicville High School, and went on to have a long and fulfilling career at General Electric in Waterford, from which he eventually retired.
In retirement, Robert embraced life fully. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, boating and camping along the Hudson River as a member of the Schuyler Yacht Basin. Along the way, he made many lasting friendships and cherished the simple joys of life, good company, great food, and tropical drinks shared with those he loved.
Robert will be remembered for his warmth, his love of family, and the many memories he created with those around him. His family will always picture him in his recliner watching Heartland. He will be deeply missed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville, with a Funeral Home Service starting at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the family plot at St. Paul's Cemetery.
