Jody DePew Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. on Mar. 30, 2026.
Jody L. DePew passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 27, 2026, at the age of 56. He was born on August 6, 1969, in Cornwall, New York, to William J. DePew Jr. and Joyce D. Wynkoop.

Jody was employed as a Motor Equipment Operator with the Plattekill Highway Department. He was a dedicated member of Modena Fire & Rescue, an honorary supporter of the Ladies Auxiliary, and an active member of Grand Hollow Tractor Pullers and 845 Car Shows & Cruises.

He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle DePew (Dunham) of Modena; his daughter and son-in-law, Diana Philpott (Michael "Bootsie") of Mechanicville; his son, Kent DePew of Modena; and his honorary daughters, Ashley Cervini of Troy and Katie Haight of Utica. He is also survived by his brothers, Todd DePew (Bobbie Ann) of Summit and Dean DePew Sr. (MaryAnn) of Modena; his mother-in-law, Martha Dunham of Highland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jody was predeceased by his parents, William and Joyce DePew; his brother, Kent DePew; his maternal grandparents, Gladys May Hoyle and Howard K. Wynkoop; his paternal grandparents, Ethel Sutton and William DePew Sr.; his father-in-law, Robert Dunham; his sister-in-law, Sherry Dunham; his great-niece, Molly DePew; his friend, Steven Gale; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Jody was a loving husband and a proud, devoted father who cherished spending time with his family. Whether meeting for a cup of coffee at Stewart's or attending a car show, he was always happiest surrounded by those he loved. He took great pride in his prized possession, a 1973 Dodge D100, and enjoyed working on tractors and small engines.

Jody was a professional ball buster and had a way of making everyone around him laugh. He enjoyed tractor pulls, relaxing around a campfire, and fishing. In his younger years, he often ended his nights with friends at the College Diner. He also enjoyed trips to Cobleskill, always making sure to stop at Little Italy for a meal that could last him for days.

Jody leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 4th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at DiDonato Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM at Modena Fire & Rescue, 1953 Route 44/55, Modena, NY 12548.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that any donations be made to Modena Fire & Rescue or Modena Ladies Auxiliary. Please send donations to PO Box 273, Modena, NY 12548.
