Mark and Family,
I saw you had a memorium in this last sundays paper for your daughter Melissa. As this is only a year old for you I know the pain and emptiness is still fresh. I met your daughter I believe in 2000. I worked at Expresspoint with Leon LaChapelle. We came to your place of business for a Picnic where I met your daughter and the rest of your family. Such a nice girl. Such a sad thing to happen to such a sweet person and oh so gracious family. My heart goes out to you and your family as I know your pain as I lost my only son Chad Olzsewski Nov 4th 2002. His memorial was also in last Sundays paper.
Parents should not have to go through the loss of a child and my heart goes out to you and hopefully she has met my son Chad and they have become friends. I have found as time passes the pain subsides but the emptiness remains. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
Love to you all

Dear Mosvick family,
My husband Scott and I are Peace Corps Volunteers and lived here in Ouarzazate with Melissa, and sat next to her on the plane ride here from the states. We were with her the night before the tragic accident, and made plans for when she returned. She was dancing, showing such joy and freedom. She was a truly remarkable woman and she will be missed. God bless her and you and peace be with you during this difficult time.

Melissa (our angel),
"Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends for it is one of God's best gifts. It involves many things, but above all the power of going out of one's self and appreciating whatever is noble and loving in another."
Of course I had to wait until the last day to write to you, that's just the way we did things. I want you to know how much I love you and miss you. Thank you for everything that you have brought to my life and continue to bring me. I feel so blessed to have you not only as a friend, but as so much more. In past eight years of my life, not a day has gone by where I haven't thought of you. You are forever in my heart and thank you for all of the wonderful, precious memories that we share. All the laughter, tears, smiles, fights that we shared througout life have taught me so much. I know that you are still looking down upon us and taking care of us, but you are greatly missed.
With lots of love,
The girl on the corner

Melissa Leigh-
My little honeybee, my big sister. I will miss you and keep you in my heart forever. You did so much for so many people in the world. You made an incredible impact on many peoples' lives including my own. There are so many stories I will remember with you- 2 Fast 2 Furious movie, and much more. Your goofy moments, and random times together, it will be cherished in my heart. I love you. Rest in Peace.
Love,

Dear Mosvick family,
I was so very sorry to hear about the death of Melissa. It takes an extraordinarily loving, generous and brave person to leave all that is familiar and comfortable to join the Peace Corps. To lose such a special loved one is unspeakably painful and so hard to comprehend. I know because I lost my son Jeremiah over seven years ago while he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa.
My daughter Chelsea and I extend to you our sincerest sympathy and wishes for strenght during this most difficult time. You are not alone. There is a community of grieving family and friends of these very special Fallen Peace Corps Volunteers.
Sending you prayers and wishes for peace and hope and comfort,
Donna Mack

Melissa's Family,
I am saddened by your loss. The obvious question is, Why Melissa?, so young and so much more to give. I pray you find comfort knowing Melissa's life positively impacted so many lives. It is my belief Melissa completed her life mission and God called her to be with him. More affluent people, with longer lives, have accomplished far less than Melissa did in hers.

Mosvick Family,
I will never forget the times that I has with Melissa. I remember when you first moved across the street, Melissa and I thought it was the best thing to happen to us, she was so kind and generous, and most of all, she made me laugh SO much. You are in our hearts and prayers. Just remember, your neighbors are here for whatever you need. All my love, Megan McKuras

My first memories of Melissa were of her as a toddler--a lovely blond even then--in a green velvet Christmas dress at Roger and Nonie's house in Inver Grove Heights. And then time flew by and she was a young woman off to Europe. All things must pass, but her passing was much too soon.
Love, Linda (cousin to Mark and Matt).

Dear Mark and Barb, Roger and Nona,
As one of several Mosvicks who have lived and worked in Africa over the last few decades, I am saddened beyond measure that our family has lost Melissa. And I am also thankful to God that her adventuresome, loving and free spirit took her to a continent that has meant so much to many of us.
Bright spirit, Melissa! She will shine on in our hearts and memories!
Love,
Sue

Mel,
Ta gaieté et ton sourire me manquent
Meli,
Love You So Much

Dear Mosvick Family and Melissa's Extended Peace Corps Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Melissa's untimely passing. It was a huge blessing to have been friends with Melissa. Although we haven't seen or talked to eachother since high school, she is the kind of person who you can never forget. We shared a lot of laughs back in our high school days, and I have nothing but fond memories of her. Although she may not be with us anymore, our memories of her will live on forever.

Barb and Mark, I offer you my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers. It's probably been 20 years since I saw Melissa last - a tiny, blonde-haired, tag-along at the soccer games. After reading the kind words from her friends and family, I can only wish I had met her again as a young adult. You should be so proud of her. God is holding her close - and she'll be waiting there to see you again. Take care of yourselves and may God give you comfort.

Dear Cousin Barb and family,
My heart goes out to you during this difficult time! Melissa accomplished important things and touched many lives in the short time she had here on earth. She is an example and inspiration to us all of what it means to make choices that will help others and leave a lasting mark in their lives. I am sure the precious memories you cling to will bring you much comfort. I am praying that the Lord will give you His peace and comfort as you trust Him during this trial. I have my church friends praying for you too. God bless you all. Love, Anne

Dear Mosvick family, I’m truly sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Melissa early in my years at St. Thomas as a teammate and friend. She always had a unique and fun spirit, whether it be blasting her radio until all of our ears hurt on the way to practice in the morning…or adding a little bit of her humor and/or sarcasm to lighten the mood when we were freezing cold and wet trying to carry boats off of a trailer at 3 A.M. after a long drive home from a race. I also remember that Melissa had a genuine caring spirit that obviously carried over into her life after college. It was awesome to read about all that she was involved with in the Peace Corps prior to her passing, but I can say that based on what I knew of her from UST, I was not at all surprised that she would take such pleasure in helping others.
God Bless You,

The night Melissa passed away, I was looking to the skies, trying to gain some sort of composure to what had happened and what Melissa had meant to me. The stars were shining brightly and for some unearthly reason I simply blurted out, "Are you okay?" I let my voice reverberate through the crisp air thinking about what I had just said when I noticed a small and dim shooting star appear in the heavens. I thought, 'is this real, or just a coincidence?' Quickly I said, "Will you watch over us and make sure that we stay in line?" Then I waited to see what would happen. Just as I had decided the first shooting star was a simple coincidence, a larger and brighter shooting star trailed half-way across the sky. A solemn tear fell from my left eye, for I knew that Melissa and I were onnecting. My final question came as an assurance to her that I still had high expectations of her. Holding back the tears, I quietly choked out, "Melissa, will you promise me that if you hear any new gossip, you will make sure to let me know?" Five seconds later the grandest and most brilliant shooting star I have ever seen in my entire life soared across all the heavens lightening up the sky like a powerful thunderbolt. Its light lingered for what seemed an eternity as I knew Melissa had especially liked that question.

No words can describe the impact of Mel's loss!
I still can't believe that the shining light that she spread on us is gone...
I guess it's true that "All Good Things Come To An End"...
But Mel is one of those "good things" that break the rule, since her warmth & kindness will always remain in our hearts!
Mel, the Angels will always be with you...
because you're one of them...
Rest In Peace!

Mel,
LOVE U SO MUCH MEL

Barb and Mark, I wanted to send a couple words to tell you that I am so sorry to hear about Melissa. I remember when she came to our World and she left far too early. I'm glad I got the chance to work with her and get a chance to know her. I know she really wanted to help others through the Peace Corp. She was determined to make a difference. She was such a sincere and beautiful person. She has a great Mother, Father and Sister and that's part of what made her a wonderful, caring person. We will all miss her and I want to wish your family God's Blessings through these trying times. I love you and I am here if you need anything.
God Bless you, Allen
