Lake Dickson Obituary

Lake Simpson Dickson
Mrs. Dickson, born January 19, 1897 in Burlington, NC, died January 30, 2009 peacefully at Southminster where she had been a long time resident.
She spent her early years in Atlanta before moving to Gastonia in 1910 and to Charlotte in 1929. In Gastonia she married Rush S. Dickson, to whom she was married for 49 years.
She was known for her love of gardening and her appreciation of flowers and their arrangements. She was a member of Myers Park Baptist Church where she served on the Altar Committee and often arranged flowers for services of the church as well as other community events.
She was also a member of the Charlotte Garden Club, Charlotte Debutante Club, Quail Hollow Country Club and Charlotte Country Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rush S. Dickson of Charlotte. Surviving are her four children, Stuart Dickson, Alan Dickson, Barbara Scott and Jane Williamson, all of Charlotte, and eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Myers Park Baptist Church on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends after the service at the church in Heaton Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund at Myers Park Baptist Church, Southminster Foundation, Historic Rosdale, or a charity of your choice.
The family gives special thanks to Selena Williams for her care and friendship and to her associate caregivers for their long and devoted service.

We loved living in Cottage One and sharing the garden Lake began, as we used to enjoy her garden when we lived on Bucknell. Her life was a glorious one of humility and devotion to natural beauty. May we all remember her in our life patterns.
