Paul Nowlin Grubb

The Reverend Dr. Paul Nowlin Grubb at the age of 91 passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009, in Newton, North Carolina, after a brief time of illness. Dr. Grubb has been a minister in the United Methodist Church and The Assemblies Of God, and has served as senior pastor in Memphis for 55 years at Central Assembly Of God and Faith Temple Church prior to his retirement in 2002. He was an alumnus of Emory And Henry College, Emory University, Candler School Of Theology, and Milton University. Dr. Grubb was a professor in the New Testament Theology and Evangelism Departments at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He also founded a private day school and bible college, edited a church periodical for many years, authored a number of books and traveled to 55 nations in missionary evangelism. Dr. Paul Grubb was preceded in death by his wife and lifelong partner in ministry, the Reverend Lura Johnson Grubb, one brother, Frank Grubb and one sister, Mabel Herndon. He is survived by one brother, Marvin Grubb of Welch, West Virginia, one son, the Reverend Tom Grubb and wife, Rita, of Conover, North Carolina, one grandson, Christopher T. Grubb, M.D., and wife, Margaret, and two grandchildren, Thomas and Anna-Katherine. Services will be at 2:30 P.M., Monday, March 2, in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends immediately prior to the service at 12:30 P.M. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverends, Ronald Odum and Truman Benfield, will be officiating.
