Private First Class Rueben Lopez Obituary

Private First Class Rueben "Boy" Lopez, U.S. Army Active Infantry, 27, of Williams, was killed in action on August 11, 2011, while on mission in Nelgham, Afganistan. Boy was born May 9, 1984, in Yuba City, Calf.
Boy worked at the Williams Chevron while attending Williams High School and continued after graduation for a few years. He went to San Joaquin Valley College and received his Correctional Officer Certificate. He also worked for Target in Roseville. Boy then decided to join the Army and he was actively deployed in support of operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Boy is a member of the Neighborhood Church in Williams. He enjoyed volunteering with the Colusa County Fun Camp and doing ride-alongs with the officers at Williams CHP office. His dream was to join the CHP in order to help others. Boy loved his family, especially his 5 nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his mother, Gloria Estrada of Williams; sisters, Letti and Ian Caldwell of Eugene, Ore., Monica and James Palmer, Renee and Matt Silva of Roseville, and SGT Raquel "Kelly" Lopez of Fort Lewis, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Olivia Caldwell, Madison and Ethan Silva, and Jesse and Ella Palmer; father, Reuben Lopez of Williams; grandparents, Alex and Rita Estrada of Colusa, and Margaret DelRio of Williams.
There will be a private, immediate family only visitation at the McNary-Moore Chapel 107 5th Street Colusa. Funeral services will be open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadettes Hall in Colusa. Boy will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colusa with full military honors.
The three organizations chosen by the family are the Williams Neighborhood Church, Citizens for a better Williams and Trucks to Troops (www.truckstotroops.com). Please mention Boy's name when you make a donation.
