Mr Bertine always had a special place in my heart. I met him during his Son’s Peter Jr’s trails in the urban markets. Mr Bertine was the only person who ever gave us a chance to do better as black young people in Bronxville and he will be missed we love him Thank You Mr B you will always be rowing up stream in our hearts.
RIP

Peter was a wonderful help to me settling the estate of my husband 29 years ago. He became more than an attorney—really a friend. My most heartfelt condolences to his family.

I got to know Pete again 60 years after we graduated from Williams College, when he joined our crazy annual Phoenix AZ golfing reunion (surprisingly he played golf along with all the other sports in which he excelled). Pete was great company, and very unassuming. I had no knowledge of his many other accomplishments, and consider it a privilege to have been able to share fun times with him again after all these years. What an impactful life! Rest In Peace, good friend.

Peter's soft spoken humble words were insightful, wise, often humorous and always on the mark. I truly enjoyed every conversation, every debate, every row and all our time together. A truly wonderful man who made the world better for his part in it.

What can one say? Peter was one of the all-time best people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! Just a truly wonderful person by any standard of measurement.! A wonderful Little Moose neighbor and a good friend!

Big, big smile to read the above. There's a "twinkle in the eye" in those words that well befits their subject. A gentleman, a fine citizen of Bronxville, and a steward of the Adirondacks. I'm thinking of all the Bertines and thanking you, Katherine, for sharing him so well right now. Love, C.
