Ruth Claire Himelfarb Sember

Ruth Sember Ruth Claire Himelfarb Sember, 75, of Lighthouse Point, FL died Tuesday evening June 10, 2014. She was born to the late Hillard and Jule Himelfarb, March 3rd, 1939, in Chambersburg, PA. She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area High School and received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Columbia University. She further went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Marine & Environmental Science from the University of Miami. She had numerous scientific publications, and a cookbook that was published by Random House in 1970. Ruth and her husband, Michael, have been active members of the Lighthouse Point community since 1995. Ruth was a financial advisor with Deutsche Bank and had no plans to ever retire. She loved her work and considered many of her clients to be part of the family. She was passionate about giving to the community and was a strong supporter of literacy programs, public radio, veteran's assistance and the Humane Society. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, a son, Scott, and brother, Dr. Roy A. Himelfarb. She is survived by her husband, Michael Sember, of Lighthouse Point, FL and her daughter, Ilana Pearlman, of Nederland, CO. She also is survived by her brother, Lee Himelfarb, and his wife, Beverly Himelfarb, of Cleveland, OH; her sister-in-law, Deborah Himelfarb, of Chambersburg, PA; and her nephews, Mark Himelfarb and family of Lititz, PA and Aaron Himelfarb and family of Chambersburg, PA. There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in Florida. Time and place is to be determined.
