Floyd Lowry Obituary

Published by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Nov. 21, 2013.
On the morning of November 21, 2013, Floyd E. Lowry III passed from this world into the everlasting arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. For Floyd there will be no more pain and suffering, only the joy of eternal life. Floyd was born on December 27, 1943 in Waco, Texas to Floyd Ernest Lowry, Jr. and Ruby Marie (Hughes) Lowry. On April 1, 1983 Floyd married Gail Elaine Mitchon in Austin, Texas. Floyd graduated Denison High School in 1962 and went on to attend East Texas State University and Austin Community College. He worked for Texas Instruments in Austin, Texas for 12 years, Abbott Labs in Round Rock, Texas for 17 years, and for the past 11 years he has worked as a Sr. Engineering Manager for Amgen Inc. in Thousand Oaks, California. He was an avid muscle car enthusiast and mechanic. Floyd loved his grandchildren along with his dogs and cats, not necessarily in that order. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd E. Lowry, Jr. and Ruby Marie Lowry; and grandson, Frederick F. Smith. Survivors include his wife, Gail Lowry of Georgetown, Texas; son, Johnathan Lowry and wife Michelle of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Michelle Lynn Lowry of Leander, Texas; step-sons: Cary Smith and wife Allison of San Antonio, Texas and Marc Smith and wife Heather of Round Rock, Texas. Grandchildren: Gage Vankirk & Ashlynn Davidson of Leander, Texas; Morgan & Cody Smith of Round Rock, Texas; Claire & Bridgette Smith of San Antonio, Texas; Kaitlyn & Cassidy Linehan of Round Rock, Texas; brothers: David Lowry and wife Judy of Denison, Texas and Timothy Lowry of Keller, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Floyd's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital (wwwstjude.org). A visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26th at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be: Johnathan Lowry, Cary Smith, Marc Smith, Gage Vankirk, Donald Grenier, and Franklin Schirpik. I had the honor and privledge of working for Floyd when he first started here at ATO. We would get off track sometimes in our meetings if there was exciting news about cars, I also remember his love for pepper--I don't believe I had ever seen anyone take the lid off the pepper shaker in a resturant before. My prayers of comfort go out to his family.

Floyd was one of my favorite people at Amgen. We always talked about cars and sometimes politics. I always enjoyed his laid-back country style. We went to Ireland together to train staff on Maximo. They told me I talked slow, I told them to wait 'til they meet Floyd! They were all intrigued by the opportunity of meeting a genuine Texas gentleman. They weren't disappointed.

F III, I will miss you my friend, and no...I still haven't balanced and blueprinted my '66 T-bird. Maybe I will now.

So sad to hear the news of Floyd's passing. I remember as a young child being around Floyd while visiting at their home in Denison, what a kind soul.....
