Nicholas Sacrinty Obituary

SACRINTY EDEN - Dr. Nicholas William Sacrinty, 83, of 531 Dogwood Drive, Eden, passed away Wednesday morning, April 16, 2007, at Morehead Memorial Hospital. A Rockingham County native, Dr. Sacrinty was born June 10, 1924, to the late John and Bess Duncan Sacrinty. He was a Navy veteran having served on the USS Chilton Naval ship. Dr. Sacrinty was a graduate of the old Wake Forest College where he was an outstanding football player. He was a college Hall-of-Famer and played in the first Gator Bowl where he threw the first touchdown pass. After graduation, he was recruited and played one season for the Chicago Bears under the late George Halas before entering medical school at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. Dr. Sacrinty served his community as a beloved physician for more than 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Frazier Sacrinty; brother Otis "Bo" Sacrinty; and sister Sukie Sacrinty. Surviving are his wife, Rossi Barrow Sacrinty of the home; sons Paul Sacrinty and wife Patty of Randleman and Tom Sacrinty and wife Amelia of Stoneville; daughters Laura McGuire of Reidsville and Esther Hager of Little Rock, Ark.; stepson Courtland Brooks and wife June of Eden; three grandchildren, Erika Jobe of New York City; Laura Sacrinty of Durham; and Court Brooks Jr. now serving in the U.S. Navy; brother John Sacrinty and wife Mary of Reidsville; a sister, Alva of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Danview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, April 18, at Fair Funeral Home, and other times at the home on Dogwood Drive. Memorials may be made to Rockingham County Humane Society, 538 Morgan Road, Eden, NC 27288. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com.
