my sympathies go out to all of the remaining members of the braus family. phil was a dear friend of my mother and father (bob and millie skomp) back when i was very young, and he was always very nice to both i and my long-since deceased brother, jimmy. i can even remember what kitty looked like back then, and i also recall billy himself working at a fast food joint of some sort out at northbrook court way, way back in the day - he gave me free food and made a life-long friend in the process... i have attached one of the few remaining pictures that i have of my 'rents - i believe that it dates from right around WWII - i truly wish you brauses all the best from the desert southwest.

Dear Kitty and Family,I was very sadden when I heard the news about Phil. Here at McComick Place we live in the "SHOW" world, and the Auto show was going in and as Phil knew working down here sometimes the outside world is foreign to us.Phil was a lot of fun to work with and around all the time. I,can say hearing his laugh would make anyone smile.Your Husband/Father was well loved by all Electricians and Local 134.His nickname was "PHILIP HERE". It developed from our days of morning roll call. Kitty, on a personal note my oldest daughter Jackie you might remember is handicap, and Phil and you would always give me a card or gift for her on Christmas and her Birthday.I have to say to the entire Family I, shall miss him dearly.Sincerly, John Taylor

I never had the privilege to sail with Philip in the Coast Guard but he became my first friend in our Reunion Association a number of years ago. He will be long remembered as a "True Shipmate".

Dear Kitty, Mary, Sara and family,

How sorry we were to learn of Philip's death. I have such fond memories of him calling the ElderCARE office asking (in his official Navy voice!) for Nurse Justus! Then I learned what a sweatheart he was... we valued the support and encouragement of all of you over the years.

We admired the determination to live the life God gave him to the fullest... he was an inspiration and example of grace under fire. The love and support given by all of you over the years was beautiful to see.

Al and I cannot come for the wake today as we will be in Wisconsin with our family. I am planning to attend the Mass on Monday. If I don't get a chance to see you in person, please know our prayers are with all of you in this time of sadness. May you feel God's presence and peace during the coming days and may He give you all the rest and sleep you must need as well.

Love, Karen and Al
