Dennis Porr Obituary
- - Dennis Stephen Porr ("Denny"), 67, passed away peacefully at his home on November 9, 2018. He was the loving husband of Kim Ervin. Denny and Kim shared 25 years of marriage together.
Denny is survived by his wife Kim, daughter Amy Olsson (Micah), son Matt Porr, grandchildren Dylan, Julia, Harper, Norah and brother Darrel Porr (Susan). He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Teresa and his brother Larry Porr. Denny was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by his family and by countless friends.
Born in Wadsworth, OH, he was the son of Robert and Teresa Porr. Denny earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology from Arizona State University. He had a long, successful career working in the field of Wellness.
Denny worshipped at West End Community Church in Nashville. He devoted countless hours serving others within his community as well as dedicating his time and energy on many mission trips. Denny's hobbies included running, hiking, playing guitar and consuming Diet Coke.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 17th at 12:00 PM at West End Community Church. The visitation will be from 11:00 until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Denny may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) or to Preston Taylor Ministries.

Learning of Denny´s passing was a shock. His personality was larger than life. I met him while a grad student at ASU. He was intelligent beyond measure, kind, patient, and funny. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him would agree. My sympathy to his family and friends.

On finding this obituary, I am stunned. Denny was my roommate at the College of Wooster and as I have always told people, maybe one of the most perfect individuals I have ever met. Intelligent, hard working, athletic, good looking, and a great person just to be around, that was Denny. Being the youngest in his family, he got those traits from his Father, Mother, and two brothers, who I got the pleasure of meeting. My condolences go out to his entire family.

We shared many great memories with Denny, general manager of the Michigan Athletic Club, in Lansing, MI at its grand opening and working along side him for many years. Reading about his involvement at his church in Nashville and in mission trips; we find comfort in knowing angels lifted him up into God's glorious Kingdom where he will live in eternity. I was Denny's backup quarterback until the Dalton game where he injured his back. He was truly a great human being and I will miss him and his brilliant smile. What a role model... on the field and off.

I am so sad to see that Denny passed away. I worked for him and worked out because him at The Arizona Athletic Club in circa 1979 and he was a friend. He is absolutely responsible for the start of my lifelong love for running. I was thinking of him...Googled him, and am greatly saddened that he has passed. Denny was one of the kindest people I've ever known. He was always so giving of his time and helped so many of us lucky enough to be around him. I worked with him for several years at Saint Thomas. My thoughts are with his family now.

i wasn't around denny very often, but when i did see him i was so impressed for many reasons.....the main thing was that he made my good friend kim deliriously happy! and for that i loved him so much. thank God we can rejoice that he is with Jesus now!

I'm so sorry to hear of Denny's passing. I know you and I only met a few weeks ago, but Denny has been a wonderful friend, business acquaintance and mentor since we started working together through St. Thomas Hospital 18 years ago. My heart is broken. Denny was such a special person and a wonderful person to work with. Although life took us in different directions, I was privileged to work with him for many, many years in the Wellness Center. Kim, my thoughts and prayers are with you through the days ahead. My heart is broken to hear this news. I loved Denny and Kim, his wife, very much. They have been such a special couple. It was so nice when they became one in matrimony.
