Eugene Gerth

Gene Gerth of Leesburg, FL died September 25, 2012. Gene was born in Coldwater, MI and after serving in WWII, he became a resident of Jackson; where he was self-employed as a barber for over 50 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church throughout all of his years in Jackson until he retired in Leesburg, FL. Gene served his country during WWII under George Patton's Third Army - Second Calvary, being honored with five Battle Stars during the "Battle of the Bulge" in 1944. He was an active member at the Jackson VFW Post 823. He was married to Bonnie Gerth who preceded him in death, they had three children, Deborah Runquist, Richard Gerth and Rebecca Moyer. He was later married to Nancy Hamilton. Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by one sister in Leesburg, FL, Vera Lord. He also is survived by his three children and one grandson, Deborah Runquist, Richard Gerth, Rebecca Moyer, her husband, Jon, and grandson, Cameron. Gene's children are planning a graveside memorial in the spring.
