Wanda Gerth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Dec. 31, 2025.
Wanda Gatlin Gerth, 64, of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Georgetown Community Hospital following a brief illness. Wanda was born April 18, 1961 in Salina Kansas, to the late William Rudolph Gatlin and Bonnie Powers Gatlin.
She was married to her husband, Glen James Gerth, Jr for 18 years, becoming stepmother to Glen James Gerth III, and Wyatt Greyson Gerth, loving them as her own. They resided in a close community in Georgetown, where the neighbors are like family. Wanda was always canning and cooking the vegetables which Glen grew in the garden, to share with the neighbors, friends and family. She was a natural born chef, and loved cooking for everyone, and sharing her gift.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Tammi R Shoger (Nathan) of Laurel Hill, NC, Kimberly G McGinnis (Kim) of Olive Branch, MS and Stacey G Adams (Mark) of Greer, SC. Forever cherished and remembered by her Nieces and Nephews, and predeceased by one Niece. Wanda has always loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, as well as several Foreign Exchange students from across the globe, hosting them at her house anytime she could and taking them on adventures, they all loved their time with her. She also leaves behind many other family members, and friends she considered family, who all will sadly miss her.
Wanda had many professions throughout her life, as Chief Purchasing Agent and Buyer at Huffy and Kellogg's, in Mississippi. After moving to Georgetown, she found her place as a Branch Representative for Advance America, where she found family in her co-workers and customers alike. She loved her work outside of her home, but her favorite place was at home in the kitchen, where she cooked to feed her family and all the people around her. Watching cooking shows and following Chefs, like Gordon Ramsey, was where she honed her talent, feeling like she could out cook even them. She also loved to play board games and other games, proving to be a fierce competitor.
Tucker, Yocum & Wilson has the arrangements. No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations for Wanda are recommended to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Friends and family are encouraged to share their condolences and memories below on Wanda's tribute wall.
