Christopher's flag in IL
May 28, 2018
I did not know Christopher D. Mello. My wife and I purchased a US Flag in Oak Brook IL last year, in 2017, during a 911 tribute. Of the thousands of flags available to purchase, my wife chose Christopher. Wanted to let you, the family know, that we fly this flag in honor of Christopher and the many others that lost their life's that day.
I proudly fly this flag at my home in North Riverside, IL.

I recently visited the 9-11 memorial and saw Chris' name and decided to look him up. I am so glad I did. What an exemplary example of an All-American man. I am sorry for your loss, but truly blessed by the positive and uplifting life he led.

My son Michael Iannucci, as a toddler found this young mans grave site while visiting his grandmothers grave. We still stop by to this day and pray for him. When my son was two he actually was found smiling and talking to Chris. We hope he rests in peace. We now live in Arden,NC but did just return from N.Y. last week and visited his grave site. Merry Christmas in heaven Chris.
Fondly,

To the Family & Friends of Mr. Mello,
I am so sorry for the loss of such a special person in your life.
These tragedies often move us to wonder; Why bad things happen to good people?
You can find comfort in knowing that the causes of pain & sorrow were never Gods original purpose for families.
Our faith is strengthened in knowing that soon he will eliminate all forms of suffering. Psalms 37:10 & 11, Isaiah 45:18
He will not forget Our Dear Loved Ones!

I didn't know Mr. Mellow, but my 9 year old daughter found his name at the memorial in NYC and had lots of questions about him. I'm not sure what it was about his name that stood out, but she was drawn to it and traced the letters in his name for quite some time. This is my favorite picture from our trip. I get teary every time I look at it so I wanted to share it with you. We are very sorry for your loss. I have shared with my daughter Nora his story and am glad I was able to find it online.

I did not know! Just saw the names of victims today during one of the 10 year remembrance events. JD and Chris were my nephews when I was married to Cheryl, their aunt and sister to Doug. Chris was 5 years old, the last time I saw him.
Doug, Ellen and Cheryl, I am so sorry and can't express my feelings in words. Please accept these very, very late condolences.

I had the privilege of knowing Chris when he was a student in a precept (discussion section) that I taught at Princeton. It was my first semester as a graduate student, and so Chris was one of my very first students. I remember him fondly; he was a great student. In fact, as a novice teacher, I really appreciated having a student like him in class. He, his family, and his friends are in my thoughts.

I knew Christopher when I worked at Princeton University in the Voice Mail Office. Chris would stop by the office now and again and I remember him so very well, his pleasant demeanor, smile and good nature. Chris stood out as one of the most amiable students I ever met at Princeton, throughout the entire 14 years I worked there. Remembering Chris on this 10th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Mello,
I never knew your son and I can only imagine how you feel. I currently attend Rye High School and the first thing I see when I walk in is your son's jersey in a shadow box hanging proudly on the wall. I was only ten when that horrible day happened and I remember everyone from grades 2-6th in my small school being brought in to watch the live news. My father lost a good friend of his who was in the plane that hit the Pentagon, and he and my mom also lost a close friend of theirs in the North Tower. Not a day goes by and I don't think about that terrile day that should have never happened.
You shall be in my prayers.

I did not know Chris, but have been wearing his name on a silver Mercy B.A.N.D. (Bearing another's name daily)in memory of him each September since the tragedy in 2001.
Tonight I played in a memorial concert in Washington D.C. and wore Chris's name on my wrist as we honored those we lost, their families, and other heroes who love our great country.
Although I don't know the Mello family, I just want them to know that even strangers are still praying for them six years later--for hope and healing.

To the Mello Family,
Although I did not know Chris personally, I will always feel connected to him because we share the same name, are the same age and both lived in Boston at the same time. Having read so many wonderful stories about him over the years and seeing all of the people who care so much for him, it’s clear he was a truly amazing person who had a positive effect on the lives of all those around him. I can only aspire to have such a profound effect on those close to me and I hope you can find some peace in knowing that I try, everyday to do just that, and Chris is part of the reason.
On behalf of my entire family, I would like to send you our deepest condolences and let you know that on our thoughts are with you always.
Sincerely,
Chris Mello

It was a perfect day. The grass was green. It wasn't too hot. There were more fans at that game than we had ever seen before. The game was awesome, never seen us play better. Both you and Tommy paid a visit to the ambulance on site (your dad had to sign a waiver for them to let you play again). But we lost that day - you took it out on a trash can after the game. But you summed it up best, "never felt closer to a group of guys than (that day) on that field." That was a good day. You are missed and hardly forgotten...
