Edward Rowenhorst Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2001.
EDWARD V. ROWENHORST, 32, of Lake Ridge, Va., loved to take his 7-year-old daughter, Ashley, to his Pentagon office. He'd find an empty cubicle and give the girl some crayons, said his wife, Traci. Once, the two had a picnic lunch at the Washington Monument. "Ashley just loved going in," Traci Rowenhorst said. "Everyone in the office enjoyed kids. They were just a big family there."

I was drawn here after spotting a photo on Facebook that was at the world trade centre memorial.
I had just been thinking about my neighbour Rowan as I scrolled though and the name droid out more as my 12 year old is named Owen Edward.
I“ve read through the tributes and I am thinking of your family today and wishing you hope and peace for now and for your future x

Edward you are never forgotten. Today your life is remembered and your service honored. May the Lord bless your family and friends with peace and comfort and may you rest in peace.

When I was a little girl, our families knew each other. My mom babysat for Daniel and I want you to know I was at Eddie's memorial service and even though it's 8 years later, I still think about you guys and pray for you. Currently my husband is deployed with the US marines trying to make this a safer place for all of us. I will always keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. God bless! RIP

Eddie was one of my 5th grade students in Dale City, Virginia. As I recall, he was a good student, and carried himself with a lot of class. I remember him fondly, and wish the best for his family.

My prayers are always with your family. Losing one you love is the most heart wrenching thing a human being goes through. We trust in God to help us travel this rough road. I worked with Eddie only through the e mail and phone, he always assisted with a warm and friendly attitude. Working with the gov't, sometimes the work load can be such that we want to cut short our assistance to others, but to Eddie we far away people were just as important as the ones in his office. I thank God he was there to train me on the financial systems. He is in the palm of God's hands now. It is up to us the survivors to face the world and make make a difference.

I am so glad I could finally let you know, in some way, Traci how truly sorry I am for your loss. I work out here at DFAS-IN with Doug, Roger and RSW team members and it really broke my heart. I am always lighting a candle for your family and Eddie and keeping you in my prayers. Eddie always had a smile that I will never forget and when he was here it was always "Lisa, where's Doug at?" or "how are you today?" I feel like I now have closure after 6 months. Thank you, for adding his name to this. May he rest in peace. Lisa Spurling

Traci:

I was very saddened to hear of the loss of Eddie. We worked closely together for many years. He made it a point to come and see me whenever he was in Indianapolis. Eddie loved you and Ashley very much and I know you miss him terribly. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

We are deeply sorry for your loss of Edward. May his life and love live on in all who love him. May warm memories of times together lighten the sorrow in your hearts. Our hearts cry with you in your loss of Edward.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn

On 10/20, the Renaissance committee at Seoul American H.S. sponsored a walk that raised $21,000+ to benefit the children of victims of the terrorist attacks. All 800 people who walked walked for 3 victims. I walked for Mr. Rowenhorst and four others because my friend, Pat Reddy of FORSCOM personally knew them. I am sorry for your loss. We Americans overseas mourn with you.
