Dear David, tonight I’m remembering the last time we spoke was this night nineteen years ago, and it seems like it was just yesterday. I said good night and as always told you to take care of yourself. And then the next day you were gone.
Time has gone by so quickly, and you are in my thoughts so often. Our family has had a tough year, a lot of illness, some very serious, we are praying for a miracle, so I’m asking you to intercede for us.
Tomorrow our family will be together to remember and honor your bravery and sacrifice.
You are missed so much, and I love you forever.

Dear David,
I am a firefighter in Greeley, CO and yesterday I had the honor of climbing 110 floors of stairs along with 342 other firefighters from around the country in rememberance of the sacrifice you and your fellow FDNY brothers made 12 years ago. I have found some information about you online and it is obvious that you were respected by your peers and loved by your family. You earned your father's badge number and served your community with pride and honor. Although I did not know you, I promise you that I will never forget you. Rest in peace brother.

When I was a young child growing up, David and I used to "hang" out together in elementary school in Brentwood. I remember all the great laughs we had together just goofing off, being excited when we went on field trips to different spots. I simply remember him being just a great guy to be around. Time had passed and we took differnt paths in our lives. I wasn't aware David had become a FDNY firefighter. For the small time that I did have the privledge to be in his company, I will always remember our laughter together and his infectious smile.
God Bless Him.

The ache in my heart remains, dulled with time but always present even through the laughter and happy times. There have been weddings and a birth since you left us,and you have been missed so much and remembered at those times. I love you forever.

Dear Mrs Halderman, It is lovely, but also sad to read the lovely tributes to your son. He is someone we all should be proud of. I chose your son to make a quilt block for the united memory quilt which was being made to commemorate those who died on September 11. I have often wondered about him and your family and I hope you are all recovering from your terrible loss.
Best wishes, Jodie LARA, AUSTRALIA

Dear Halderman family,
It is with great respect I write to you in here. I hope that you will receive my e-mail. I have a silver bracelet displaying your son's/brother's name. I have been thinking about you and praying for you since September 11th. Your son is a great hero, and although you must be proud I'm sure the emptiness is still there. Please know that he has not been forgotten in the years since 9/11. Many people ask me about my bracelet, and I have an opportunity to remind them of the sacrifice so many gave on that day. My husband is a firefighter here in Washington. It is a great and proud organization. A nobel profession. I am sorry for your loss.

And now my son it has been four years since that terrible day. It seems like it was just yesterday and an eternity since I last saw you. The tears still flow easily and the pain doesn't go away, I suppose it has dulled a little with time but I know it will always be there. I will always remember your smile, the way you laughed, your little chuckle, your handsome face which now must be more beautiful bathed in the light of our Lord, the way you shyed away when someone paid you a compliment. I miss you and love you so much. Rest in peace my son all your earthly cares are done and someday we will be together again. MOM

Dear Geri, Christine and Family,
My thoughts and prayers have been with you since that tragic day 2 years ago. David was a true hero as well as all the other 343 firefighters that died that day, including my cousin LT John Ginley. Take care of yourself and please know that no one will ever forget the bravery that your son/brother showed that day. With Love, Kim
