56 today! How life would have been so very different if you were still physically here but I thank you for always being with us, watching over, protecting and guiding. Leaving your favorite prayer (Psalm 23) with birthday wishes to the most handsome big brother a sister could ask for.
Psalm 23 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

You would have turned 55 yesterday, hoping you heard all our wishes and felt all the love being sent to you. Losing you, Anthony and most recently "Gus" is a constant reminder to stop waiting a day, week or month to say something special, just a hello, to share emotions or just pick up the phone and call someone, because tomorrow may never happen. I love you Eddie and will always be thankful to you, for loving me.

Eddie, 2016 another year has passed 15 of them now. It still seems like yesterday as we watched the attack on tv. You, like Nicky & Cousin Louis were all off duty but still ran before being called in. The Job was your life! You were quoted as saying "That's the way you wanted to go out!" and you did, doing what you loved best! AJ & Michael miss you and the close attention you gave them. They still need you to watch over them! I pray to you to do so! Miss You! Love, Tony (Poppa

I'm not sure why I find solace writing here to you, when with certainty you know my thoughts before formed. The 11th is almost upon us with all the sadness that ensues because of it, and although you reside within me every day, the 11th is the hardest of them all. I wish I would have called like I wanted to, or come to see you that weekend before, as I planned; but my wishes of the past to be changed are useless. My only hope is that you and Anthony continue to watch over us, I hope to make you as proud of me as I am of you. You are now and will forever be my big brother, the one and only ever real life Incredible Hulk; and absolutely no one can take that away.

Dear Eddie, Another year has come to pass, 14 now. Today as all in the past we went mass with all the families we've come to know since that horrific day, and then gathered for lunch and comfort each other. I cried a lot today, You and Nicky were the sons I never had. Two loveable tough guys. Both of you loved your job so much.
You died a hero in a "Blaze of Glory" the way you said you wanted to go, You & Nicky are probably telling The Good Lord you'll go put out the fires of hell for him if he'd let you. Take care, put in a good word for me. Love, Tony (Popa

I thank you for your service. I thank you for your sacrifice. No greater love hath any man, than to lay down his life for a friend. You did so for strangers. And I remember you today and celebrate your life. A life not defined by a senseless, tragic act, rather a life of honor, dedication and service to others. May God bless your family and friends with peace

Eddy,
I found that we lost you on 9/11 after discovering your name on the memorial five years ago. Nothing but fond memories about the time when we thought we were invincible, working out together, and working together on construction.
I am proud of you for what you did and your accomplishments. I only regret that I didn't stay in touch and be able to keep up with your life.
I am confident that you are in better place now and I will join you when God decides to call me home.
Love you brother and rest in in peace.

I went to the visit the 9/11 memorial, and took random pictures of names etched in stone, and your name was one that I took. I told myself, i wanted to know every name that I had on a picture. What a wonderful legacy you have left here - what a wonderful place people have to go to, to see you again:) Thank you Eddie for all that you've done:)

I did not know Mr. D'Atri, but I wanted to say "thank you" from the bottom of my heart to him and his family. Today, on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, my fellow firefighters and I climbed in honor of the 343 that passed away in the attacks. I am proud to say that I wore Lt. Eddie D'Atri's name on my gear as I climbed to the top of our neighboring city's highest building. I wanted to let the family know how much love and appreciation was felt for Lt. D'Atri that day and every day forward. Again, "thank you" for protecting us on that horrible day of 9/11. We Will Never Forget!

Yo MO!!!!!
Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and miss you. It's been almost eight years since my 40th birthday and your last day with us. Your presence is still felt. You were my inspiration in the gym, in my work, and in my dedication to all things cherished. Wish my birthday didnt have to bring such sad memories, but it taught me to always look at the big picture. I was angry that morning that I turned 40!!!! My...we take things for granted, don't we? I look forward to seeing you again...in a better place. Victoria is almost 12 and she remembers you and still thinks about you all the time also.
I miss you every day!!!

Hello,
My names is John i never knew Lt. Eddie D'Atri but he has opened my eyes to alot of things. I am a senior at St. Pius X Catholic High School here in houston. My whole school is wearing a name from someone from that day. I selected Eddie. The 9/11 seemed to be so far but after seeing the title just a working man. It has really opened my eyes. Eddie seemed like a very nice guy. Reading and praying from him has made it seem more real for me and has caused me to look and address alot of things in my life. After seening and reading about how short life is. It has really inspired me to do something great. Eddie has been in my prayers and this has been a project that opened my eyes and touched my heart.
