Josephine D’Atri, known as “Joy”, 84, of Eastport formerly of Dix Hills passed away on August 17th, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on November 24th,1939, to Vito and Lena Lafata. She was united with her parents and beloved daughter Francine D’Atri. She leaves behind her loving husband Alex whom she was married to for 62 years, her daughter Lisa and three grandchildren Anthony, Christina and Joseph.
Joy lived for taking care of those around her by providing laughs and memories around the kitchen table. She brought family, friends, neighbors and even strangers together through her passion for cooking. If you know Joy, you know she was constantly on the move doing whatever she could to better the lives of those she loved. She was known for her bright smile and contagious laugh that had the power to light up any room she was in. Her nickname “Joy” could not have been more fitting as she truly did bring joy to this world and left it a better place. Although she is no longer with us she instilled a love for family that we will all continue to carry with us for the rest of our lives.
Her loss is deeply felt but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but will never be forgotten.
