Joseph Edward Bilello, Sr.
March 22, 1943 – March 18, 2026
Joseph Edward Bilello, Sr., passed away on March 18, 2026, just days shy of his 83rd birthday. Born on March 22, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Rose Bilello, and the cherished brother of Jack.
Joe met the love of his life, April, while attending Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn. Their high school romance became a lifelong partnership, and they were married on March 12, 1967, beginning nearly six decades of devotion to one another.
He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and went on to dedicate his professional life to public service as a New York City Transit Police Officer, from which he later retired.
He is survived by his loving wife, April; his children, Richard (Holly), Jean (Ian), and Joseph; his cherished grandchildren, Austin (Christy), Elizabeth (Stephanie), Olivia, Aaron, and Grace; and his beloved great-grandson, Jack.
Joe was known for his quick wit and endless supply of jokes. He took particular joy in welcoming new members into the family, knowing he had a brand-new audience for his favorite stories—while the rest of the family smiled, having heard them many times before.
More importantly, Joe was deeply committed to the people he loved. He was the one you could always count on—steady, dependable, and ready to help without hesitation. His family was his greatest pride, and he showed that through his constant presence, support, and love.
He will be remembered not only for his humor, but for the strength, loyalty, and kindness he showed to everyone around him. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply.
